Connect Scriture, Rosary, and Personal Life5
Mongeon, a Secular Carmelite and mother of three grown children, uses the mysteries of the rosary to connect her own family experiences with the major events in the lives of Jesus and Mary. In the introduction, the author explains that her own spiritual practice of saying the rosary, from her earliest memories through the days when her own children were in college, led to recognizing Mary as friend and companion. The book presents a review of the rosary prayers, then addresses each of set of mysteries: joyful, luminous, sorrowful, and glorious. Treatment of each mystery contains a scripture passage, the author's reflection, and questions for journaling. For example, Mongeon's reflection on the Annunciation describes her reactions to the doctor's "annunciation" that she was pregnant on three different occasions, and expresses gratitude to Mary for saying "yes" and giving us the example of her own grace. The journaling questions relate to the reader's experiences of feeling special, sensing a "call," and an invitation to do something special. This booklet would be an asset for individuals and small groups interested in taking a new look at the relationships between rosary, scripture, and personal life.

High Tea With Mary5
I wrote the reflections on the Joyful Mysteries in this book as a gift for my three grown children: Deborah, Daniel, and Elaine. I wanted to share why the rosary has been so important in my own growth in prayer, and to give them a means of seeing the rosary as a basis for meditation. My children enjoyed my reflections, and as a result of their encouragement, I sent a copy of the manuscript to the publisher. The publisher urged me to finish the reflections, and to complete the suggestions for journaling. Hopefully, all who read the booklet will continue the process by recording their own stories in their journals. I would be delighted to hear some of those stories, and to know that my meditations have been springboards for the prayer of others. Sincerely, Dr. Joanne Parnell Mongeon, OCDS
