Playing From The Heart - Nicely Done! 5
I am extremely wary of any CDs or record labels that promise, as Green Hill does here (as they do with most of their "Worldbeat" CDs), "A unique audio experience that combines modern musical technology with ancient and global elements. Relax. Listen. Explore." Uh... thanks, but no. There are WAY too many CDs like that out there, mostly generic and sonic junk. NOT SO in this case, however.

With almost 1,000 New Age CDs in my collection, I am well-qualified to know, pick and choose, or "explore" what I like to "listen" to while I "relax," as most discerning listeners are. Having said that, I must admit that this sampler is extremely good, and DID leave me wanting to hear more from every artist.

Jack Jezzro's "Romance In Rio" accomplishes exactly that feeling by transporting you there with its sultry, romantic beat and melody, while it is incredibly hard not to imagine you and your special one on a gondola in Venice or at an Italian cafe while listening to his "Santa Lucia."

What surprised me here most was the David Lyndon Huff track, "Fresh Air." It immediately brought an early David Lanz to mind, a favorite pianist of mine (and countless others, I'm sure), with its synth, gentle electronic beat and evocative melody on piano. I would definitely like to hear more from him as well as Jack Jezzro. David Arkenstone, well - that goes without saying. Okay... more, please!

You can always tell those who truly feel what they are playing and when it is music from the heart. I believe all of the artists on this sampler accomplish exactly that, and you'll be wanting to hear more from them just as much as I do. These three, very fine artists all deserve a much wider audience, especially Jezzro and Huff. Nice job, Green Hill and Amazon... thanks!

This Freebie is a Gem!5
This download is so very "nice" and relaxing. I'm very impressed with the artists represented. Thank you, Amazon, for letting us sample this music for free. It will probably lead me to purchase one or more titles from the artists on this collection.

A Green Hill freebie for adults5
Music classified as New Age has different meanings to people. To some it's a genre of peaceful music of various styles, which is intended to create inspiration, relaxation, and positive feelings. Called Contemporary Adult Instrumental by some, it's usually defined more by the feeling it produces rather than the devices used in its creation. Critics call it an extension of the genre Elevator music.

This album, Amazon Presents Green Hill Music Digital Sampler, is far from being Elevator music.

Samplers are designed to show off the best work of an artist, and this free download does exactly that. The tracks are:

1. Romance In Rio - Jack Jezzro 4:25
2. Santa Lucia - Jack Jezzro 3:44
3. Over The Hills - David Arkenstone 5:54
4. New Love - David Arkenstone 4:36
5. Fresh Air - David Lyndon Huff 6:33

Guitarist/composer Jack Jezzro's Romance In Rio and Santa Lucia tracks are excellent examples of his guitar works. Listening to these tracks, it's not hard to understand why this studio musician was a Grammy nominee. His Romance in Rio is the title track from his Romance In Rio offering, and Santa Lucia can be found on a number of variations on his albums, including Guitar Romance.

David Arkenstone has long been a personal favorite, and the main reason that I wanted to hear this sampler. Arkenstone had two Grammy nominations in 2002, and it's good to see that he hasn't lost his touch. The Over The Hills track came from his Spirit Of Ireland. It starts off slowly with a kind of mystical Celtic feel, then picks up with the sounds of Irish bodhrán drumming and heavy use of the violin or fiddle. It's a great musical interpretation of Ireland, as is New Love, which came from his Celtic Romance offering.

Fresh Air, from David Lyndon Huff, was a new one for me, as I hadn't heard his work before. This track is from his Sound Therapy: Tranquility album, and this one's going on my "must have" list.

If you prefer any of these albums in CD format, the links are on each of the MP3 pages. This download is highly recommended for fans of New Age music or those who just want a relaxing instrumental alternative... and it's free. Thanks go out to Amazon and Green Hill Music for this!
