Customer Reviews
Mildly good
The "Trancemaster" compilations were never meant for pop-fans; aside from being picked from definitely not of any top selling lists, the tracks are also full-length and, what more important, NOT mixed together. When trance started taking over the dancefloors back in '98, '99 ("Out of the blue", "Gouryella", "Cream"), the major public started turning attention to these "serious" compilations of the genre.
Being one of them, I don't complain.
As trance still manages to sell like hot cakes and as the series has featured best-selling artists (from TM 20 on), it has become a little "pop" on the side, but who cares? It still is good music! TM #27 was the most perfect compilation I ever heard, #28 was a total letdown, and #29 is something in between. Most of the stuff is like the flavor of the week, some are better, but two raise clearly above the rest (three, if they would've replaced the dull "Kathy's Song"- Green Court remix with a Ferry Corsten remix!) "Tenshi" by Gouryella (regardless it was really outdated and overplayed by then) and "Choose freedom" by Ultravibe! A PEARL!! I get tears of joy in my eyes EVERY TIME I hear this. And the best of all - I haven't seen it anywhere else besides in this compilation!
Further on - #30 ("Exhale" by System F - YESSS!!) was again almost as good as #27, and #31 isn't much worse ("The Legacy" by Push - MANO!!)
Awaiting Volume 30
I gave this album 4 stars because it's a nice compilation of trance hits, most of which I've never heard before. My only complaint is that the tracks are not mixed, but rather just the full-length versions, which is still okay, but I think though in order for this album to earn it's 5 stars, it should've been mixed by someone like George Acosta. I think if you like melodic trance, then this album is definitely one to pick up. There is however, some hard trance moreso on the second cd.
Overall, it's a good album. It noticed that it says on the cd itself 'TV Advertised'. I only wish they would advertise albums of this genre on television in the U.S.!!
