Customer Reviews

RX Restoration works great5
This product outperforms all of the others in its type... Waves Z-noise, X-noise, Sonic No-Noise, Digi DINR and a few others I've tried but cannot remember the names of. The "spectral repair" tool is simply amazing with the ability to extract chair squeaks, coughs, falling items, etc. with minimal effects on the music or program material. The noise reduction tool is also excellent with fewer artifacts than other programs. As a sound engineer and Pro Tools user for 20+ years I give it my highest recommendation.

Must Have for Podcasters and Field Recordists!5
This product is seriously effective. I've recorded audio in several environments, and this cleans it up better than anything else I've experienced.

I have a Zoom H2; and I use it to conduct audio interviews. Some times the interviews have to be conducted in environments that are sonically terrible: a restaurant with persistent din, an office with AC and fans blowing. You're left with audio files that are workable; but the ambient noise is just really distracting. How do you get the Audio without the Noise?

I've used several "clean-up" programs from Steinberg and Waves. Izotope Rx wins hands down. The people are Izotope are wizards. I don't know how they developed such a smart algorithm, but it simply shines. In the automatic mode you can build a noise profile, and then choose how strong the effect is. This is brilliant; because you can actually choose to leave some noise in the audio file making the interview sound more natural/ambient. Izotope Rx lets you adjust how much of the effect you want. I can take out just enough noise so that it's not distracting.

The manual mode, on the other hand, gives you a gabillion options to tailor the noise reduction to EXACTLY what you want. It's complicated and intense, but it's powerful if you know what you're doing.

What makes Izotope Rx better than the others including Waves X-noise and Z-noise? The Izotope algorithm has shockingly free of sonic artifacting when you use heavy-handed noise-reduction. With Waves X-noise you really pay a price when you try to remove "all" the noise. Your audio file (most of my experience is with speech audio) sounds like a very poorly converted MP3 played on a crap MP3 player running through about 2314976982365 meters of copper wire. Izotope Rx has a feature called "smoothing" that really cuts down on this artificial sound. Let me be honest, it comes close to eliminating it. And this is cleaning up horrible audio with loads of noise and the highest settings. Anything that close to decently recorded with moderate settings sounds fabulous!

Just a note, this tool is for spoken word recording or live recording files. If you're trying to clean up your home/project studio files, you should really eliminate the sound source and record it properly. However, for on location interviews, phone interviews, or any place where you want to reduce or completely eliminate distracting garbage in the background, Izotop Rx will amaze you. I recommend it whole-heartedly.

Amazing tool5
I am very impressed with this tool. It makes restoration results much better than anything else I've tried.
