Innovative and relaxing5
I am pleased to see Amazon have this title. I have owned this title on vinyl for some time. This was so unique in that Ancient Future melded together the songs of nature with there compositions. The rhythmic pieces provokes ones' imagination. One of my all time favorites.

An incredibly complex mix of natural and musical sounds!5
This masterpiece is one of those rare albums in it's genre which deserves a sit down and listen to intently. As background noise you are likely to find it busy and perhaps even irritating. Get a glass of wine, sit down, shut-up and LISTEN!! It is a wonderfully complex mix of natural sounds, especially our amphibious friends, along with a successful fusion of Eastern and Western musical genre. The flutists seems to speak with deep emotion and meaning. The sitarist draws you into a trancelike state with his beautifully weird bending of sound. The drummers rythms are primal, enthralling and ancient. Listen to the album more than once before you decide whether or not you like it. Enjoy!

It sounds like the cover looks5
When I was a teenager Ancient Future played in our town, and we went to the concert, where my mom bought this album (on vinyl, of course). It was always a favorite with me. I lost my tape of it about ten years ago and have never gotten used to being without it. After the 500th time of thinking to myself, "I wish I had my Ancient Future tape," I looked Amazon and was so happy to discover that it was on CD!
This album is just like its cover--playful, nature-oriented, relaxing, energizing, beautiful. Most tracks feature the natural sounds of Bali--frogs, insects, ocean waves, rain--and fully develop these rhythms and moods. I guess you could call the music new-agey, but it is never boring; there is quite a range of mood and tempo both across the album and within each track. The percussion is lively and truly interesting, the flute is by turns plaintive and joyful, and the guitar brings it all home.
Anyone could record frogs and put music to it, but here it is really masterfully done. There is an element of fun, joy, and inspiration here that (in my opinion) marks the best music.
If you are one who hears and loves the music in the natural world around you, this album is for you.
