Customer Reviews

The best.5
I bought this product and another larger one that is advertised for larger apples. Can't recall the name of the company who manufactured the larger one, but it was a well known company. This one is hands down better than the larger one. It is easier to use (the rubberized handles make it easy), slices medium and rather large apples. The larger one is made just of metal and hurts your hands and knuckles while slicing.

OK, but it could be sharper3
I bought this model primarily because it would handle larger apples, and it is very big. However, I am not happy with the sharpness of the blades, especially in the center hub. It requires more force than it should to begin cutting, and it will not cut all the way through the skin at the bottom of the apple. It should be okay for peeled apples for pies, but not so much for unpeeled apples for snacking.

Not as good as I was hoping4
I make a lot of apple pies, and when I saw this I thought it was the perfect solution. It's really not that quicker or easier than coring and slicing the apples by hand. It says it's for jumbo apples, but I've only been able to slice medium apples with it - the bigger ones do not fit within the ring. You also have to line the apples up just so, as the center for the core is not big enough to handle the entirety of the core. I frequently end up slicing out bits of seed or the seed membrane with my paring knife after I've used this. Overall, it's neat enough and does make nice, even slices, but it's also a pain to use since you still have to do some clean-up work to the core. If you do end up using this, I would recommend slicing the bottom off of the apples first so you can get a secure, even base before putting the corer/slicer over the apple.
