Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal
This guide differs from the many directed at premed students because it is written from a medical student perspective. The authors are frank, pragmatic, sometimes humorous, and occasionally irreverent. This mixture makes for a book many libraries will find worth its modest price. The book does not focus on individual medical schools, but instead addresses issues: the preparation of an effective application, improving scores on the MCAT, and writing a compelling personal essay. The last constitutes fully half of the book, since the authors believe these essays can sway an admissions committee, even for those with borderline grades and MCAT scores. Although this book is not a substitute for such standard sources as the Medical School Admission Require ments, United States and Canada (Assn. of American Medical Colleges, annual), it does offer valuable views. Recommended.

Useless1
Worthless for med school admission. Here I'll give you all the info in the book: get good grades, do well on mcat, write a good essay. Most of the book is essays from successful applicants. Wouldn't recommend copying one for yourself so I can't see the reason for them being in there.

Okay book but only a review!!!!4
I purchased this book & another book I found online, which was recommended by many amazon reviews. This book is a overview of medical school admissions, stuff I sorta knew. The other book found at secretroutedotcom is insane. It has actual loopholes which one can use while applying.

Very helpful4
I thought the information about the interview was great. The fifty essays really give you an idea of what admissions officers and other staff are looking for. Though this book offers great advice you should look at other sources.
