I am quite happy with this unit.
I purchased it for a specific event (a company Christmas party in a large club) where I was scheduled to DJ the Christmas music as well as mix and run the sound for live singers.
My old Panasonic 3-CD player with the 'remove the lead vocals' had just given up the ghost, and I was without that particular & critical function.
The ION delivered the goods, and offered a beautiful clear sound with no discernable buzz. I ran it thru my Radio Shack 100-watt PA and my Radio Shack 75-watt speakers. I used the smaller ION speakers as monitors for the performers on stage. The event went well, and the show got rave reviews.
The headphones that came with the unit are certainly not top of the line, but they sound surprisingly good. The microphone is also pretty average. It is good for making announcements, but you would want to bring a higher quality mike for singers.
I am using the ION as my main home CD/amp now, and I even route my television audio output thru it, via the aux/phono input.
This makes watching NFL games and music concerts much more enjoyable, and makes you feel like you are really there in the coliseum.
This thing sounds great, and is quite versatile.
The ION will do quite nicely for house parties, but for larger halls you will always need another PA amp and speakers.

Pros: Versatile, sturdy, and offers quality sound and features.

Cons: My wife finds it a bit complicated for home CD-playing use.

Nice Toy or Pirate Radio tool
Have used this once in a night club setting, lacks a loop function (although having an spot for it on the display. Not really suited for any serrious nightclub use, but for learning basic beatmatching works well. fun for house parties not much more then a toy, but worth it's price. would work really well for ULPFM (Ultra Low Power FM) or Pirate radio, with a small FM transmitter. If you are a parent with a kid in their young teens that wants to be a radio DJ this is a good choice, if they want to be a hip hop DJ get them turntables, as CDs just wont work.
