A BIG HELP!!!!!!!!!5
The goose bumps and tears just kept coming through the whole book. I felt like I was reading my own story. I was adopted just like Julie. I did not realize until the past few years that an adopted child's (even a seemingly happy and thankful one)unresolved questions and deep seated anger could shape how you are with your own children. Julie Barnhill is a saving grace in my eyes. Just reading this book and knowing that I am not alone has a massive sence of relief that really helps. I bought this book last year but I am reading it again and I am happy to say that IT IS THE BEST SELF HELP BOOK FOR MOMS that I have ever bought!!!!!!!!

A humourous yet poignant look at how Anger affects the family3
Simply put. She is funny but she does not ignore the damage that anger can have. I like the "self-help" questions at the end of each chapter.

It's not the religious tone that is the problem1
The problem is that her anger is ANGER. I felt that perhaps I'm just having frustrations with my kids, but certainly not the anger she describes. I must be MOUNT PLACID, I am convinced, after reading this. I did continue on, however, despite my initial gut feeling that this book was not quite right, especially after the "green" feelings she had toward a one time friend because she had Ethan Allan furniture and she did not, subsequently ending the friendship for this reason (wow...). I did quit after I read the disturbing story of her son not listening to her horsing around. Her daughter called to her and said her son needed help. She ignored her. Her son came down with blood covering his face and she could not get past the anger that he injured himself because he was not listening to her. I don't care how angry people get....if their child needs medical attention, you need to throw out that egocentric thinking she describes. Okay, she got over it after he was on his way to the emergency room, but that story was plenty enough for me to shut the book and pitch it. Maybe there is a happy ending to the story, but I'm too busy to wait and see. If this book is good for some, kudos. I am a practicing Christian, so the religious tones were not a problem at all....it's the vicious anger that I could not relate to.
