Exactly what it says it is5
This is the complete surname index to the '1659' census of Ireland, giving county locations for each surname at that time. It uses the original spellings of Irish names as they were given in that census. It can be helpful to see the different ways your name was spelled in earlier times by 'census takers' so to speak. It is also important to establish the likely county in Ireland that your family came from. This book helps with both problems.

If your name is not in the '1659 census', then it won't be in this work. (That seems obvious - but some folks don't understand.) Remember to look under possible variant spellings of your name here too. It is a straight forward work, and an accurately described research aid for those with Irish ancestors.

Ireland Census of 1659 Surnames and Locations5
I found this to be a great source for researching the 'names' of Irish ancestors and confirmed for me that I was on the right track with my search. The publication arrived in a timely manner and was in excellent condition.

Ireland, The 1659 Census5
I must agree with the author in the previous review-if your name is not in the '1659 census', then it won't be in this work. (That seems obvious - but some folks don't understand.) Its very important to remember to look under possible variant spellings of your name. This was very useful in research of other possible spellings and the county your family came from! I was very pleased!
