About the Author
Gerald Corey is a Professor Emeritus of Human Services at California State University at Fullerton. He received his doctorate in counseling from the University of Southern California. He is a Diplomate in Counseling Psychology, American Board of Professional Psychology; a licensed psychologist; a National Certified Counselor; a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Counseling Psychology); a Fellow of the American Counseling Association; and a Fellow of the Association for Specialists in Group Work; and (with Marianne Schneider Corey) received the Association for Specialists in Group Work's Eminent Career Award in 2001. Jerry also received the Outstanding Professor of the Year Award from California State University at Fullerton in 1991. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in group counseling, as well as courses in experiential groups, the theory and practice of counseling, and ethics in counseling. He is the author or co-author of 15 textbooks in counseling currently in print, along with numerous journal articles. THEORY AND PRACTICE OF COUNSELING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY has been translated into Arabic, Indonesian, Portuguese, Korean, Chinese, and Turkish. She facilitates self-exploration groups for graduate students and continues to conduct training workshops in group counseling with Jerry is various countries. Both Marianne and Jerry were the recipients of the Eminent Career Award (for distinguished and major contributions to the field of group work) by the Association for Specialists in Group Work (March, 2001).

Patrick Callanan is a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in Santa Ana, California and is a National Certified Counselor. In his private practice he works with individuals, couples, and families. Patrick is on the part-time faculty of the Human Services Program at California State University at Fullerton, where he regularly teaches the internship course. He also offers his time each year to the university to assist in training and supervising group leaders, and co-teaches an undergraduate course in ethical and professional issues.

Great Book
I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the open ended question that the writers pose at nearly the end of every chapter. The books encourages the reader to think for him/herself. The chapter on HMO was interesting. I thought that the writers provided a poignant example on why sessions and reimbursements are so limited under HMO's.

poor tests with this book
The tests that come with the instructor book are not accurate. I am a lawyer and I took the test and several of their answers were wrong. The authors don't seem to realize that law is not always cut and dry but open to argument and interpretation. Laws don't always apply as one size fits all, especially in a murky area like ethics.

Issues and Ethics
This text is a required reading for my work in a Masters in Mental Health Counseling. Very well written, great information and lots of thoughts on many ethical issues. If this book doesn't make you question yourself, I am not sure anything else will. I will keep this text.
