the Bible of Music Licensing
This is a great reference, some 964 pages hard cover, with a multitude of sample contracts, such as co-publishing Agreements with Exclusive Administration Rights Granted to One Co-Owner Subject to Certain Restrictions (highly useful for two or more persons co-writing a song). It is important to get things in writing before the song gets out there, or even becomes a hit, otherwise it will become cartoon-land, with everyone at each other's throats.
I'd rate it five stars, only if a new release comes out with a CD-ROM to save the labor of typing. It also needs to be updated with the DMCA and other recent developments. However, certain things there are timeless and hard to find in other volumes, such as coverage of Grand Rights in stage musical or operatic productions, film synchronization licenses, royalty splits for ex-partners, TV and Radio licenses.
I'll continue to be using it as a central reference point for artfully licensing my productions and animation releases via my MuSeeks dot com artists' website and other ventures.
