This book/CD pack is based on the concept that, for most popular music styles, there exist a few basic, fundamental rhythm guitar techniques and a set of appropriate chords and chord voicings that determine the sound of each style. This one-on-one lesson with MI instructor Steve Trovato teaches the rhythm guitar essentials for 7 styles: blues, rock, country, fingerstyle acoustic, Latin/Brazilian, jazz and swing, and funk. The CD features 65 full-band tracks. Includes standard notation and tab.

Great Book for Introduction to Mastery of Different Styles
If you want to just play rock, or just play blues, then this book will help you out... but if you want to get started in being a great all-around guitar player in any style then this book is the perfect way to get your foot through the door, and open your ear to new possibilities. (Even Acoustic Finger Picking) I think this book is more focused on some genres (Rock, Jazz, Funk) than others however they do give a just amount of each style for you to get a feel and some basic knowledge for each. (Country, Fingerstyle, Blues, Rock, Latin/Brazilian, Jazz & Swing, Funk)
Ho-hummmmm....Dullsville
Nothing special here. It is not a total waste of time, but it is not the most valuable use of time in learning rhythm guitar. There are better books out there. This provides a survey level presentation of various styles. None of the styles are more than cursorily addressed. This really best serves as a introduction to rhythm guitar for someone who has no idea what rhythm guitar is.
Good but ...
In between 3 and 4 stars maybe...The book is well organized, styles are well covered. Once again, the overall idea and approach is nice and make it worth it. The "but" is for two reasons: probably too many "basic" examples, however you probably cannot specialize in each style in a small book, and most of all, the quality of the tracks is really not very good (not sound-wise but technique-wise). I guess the goal with this book is to be able to do better than what you hear!
