Too many stories
I knew there were stories from successful adults in this book, but I did not expect them to start on page 11. The author described the book as having three sections - one for parents from the author, the celebrity stories, and resources. I was just very surprised and disappointed that Part 1 was so short.
Almost Didn't Buy This Book...Thank Goodness I Did!
This book has been the most inspiring and enlightening book I've read in regard to parenting since I had my second child. This review inspires a parent to look at a child in a whole new way. Since I've read this I now see that my daughter who is an "observer" doesn't have to be in the middle of it all. I am now actively seeking programs that work for her personality traits. The reason I almost didn't buy this book is because of the Amazon review that intimated that this was solely based from a man's perspective. That couldn't be farther from the truth. This book is total inspiration from "living legends" in the world. The message is unisex and solid. I loved it...I'm waiting for the next book with more stories from individuals who have achieved. This book is so worth it.
MEN that think outside the box
This is a collection of stories primarily written by men. Of thirty or so stories, four were stories by women- 2 athletes, 2 artists: No women leaders or scientists. Pitiful. Some stories are interesting, some one note. Take this book out of the library to check out some of the stories, and review the reference section in the back which talks about different programs for children - camps, etc. - by interest. I wish I hadn't been responsible for cutting down a tree to print the copy I bought on Amazon. Waste of resources.
