Dissapointing .2
I read this book from back to cover (it is less than 200 pages) and came away rather dissapointed. None of the topics are explored in any length and many of the ideas can be found in Guerilla Marketing, including existing music industry articles on the internet. Many of of the websites that are cited resulted in dead links and I found some of the ideas outdated. Chapter 12 is an insult to readers with three pages devoted to
setting up an internet record label; and Chapter 14 devoting four and a half pages to home recording. Overall, I felt the material lacked passion and could use an injection of new ideas.

Sell Your Music : How To Profitably Sell Your Own Recordings5
I would highly recommend this book for all musicians and songwriters. At first I was skeptical as I have read other books about marketing music on the internet. But this one was very detailed and showed all the steps involved, and pulled no punches about the need for discipline. Mark W. Curran covers all the bases, and even includes ways to promote your band offline and offline, so that your online sales will be increased. There are some great resources in the back, also, and the book includes detailed screen shots on how to perform marketing tasks and to set up a daily marketing schedule. Good show, very good book.

Sell Your Music : How To Profitably Sell Your Own Recordings Online4
The book I purchased was printed in 2001, the beginning of the digital revolution, so there are some references here to dated technology such as cassette tape, but the info and "how to's" are excellent. This book is full of things you need to know and things you'd never consider without learning it the hard way with some trial and error. I have items highlighted on the majority of the pages. You might check for a newer edition, if not, I still recommend this book.
