2 CD Relative Pitch Ear Training Course. LEARN EVERY NOTE ON YOUR GUITAR COMPLETELY BY EAR! No written text or sheet music. Over 50 recorded lessons. A proven system that will help you develop a strong musical ear, finger strength, and an understanding of music theory for guitar. Just pop in the CDs and follow the lessons from your very first note to every note -on every fret -on every string of your guitar.
2 CDs Total running time: 1 hour 41 minutes.
COURSE LAYOUT
CD 1: Descriptive narration, beginner friendly, yet progressive. Starting with a short specified range of notes on the first string. A note is played and held while you match it on your guitar, (If you don't find it the first time, don't worry, eventually the narrator tells you what note is being played). The range of notes is progressively made larger, adding string after string, note combinations, and exercises. By the end of disc one the student has learned every note, and every note combination on every string of the guitar, plus some very essential music theory, and exercises for improving ones playing abilities.
CD 2: Less narration than disc one, and more music. Disc 2 can be used two different ways. 1. You can play along with CD 2 to improve finding the notes you hear as well as building your musical ear. 2. You can listen to CD 2 anytime, anywhere to help train your musical ear. For example: If you want to memorize the sound quality of a minor third interval, you can put track 4 on loop and listen to the exercises that are played on all strings up and down the fretboard. Do the same for any interval! In the end you will have learned to play every possible note combination on your guitar, as well as identify them when you here them played in songs.

"COMPLETE GUITAR BY EAR" & "COMPLETE BASS GUITAR BY EAR" TESTIMONIES
FROM AARON GONZALES, TN - Playing For Over 20 Years Your Course is Great! Back in the 80's I purchased the David L. Burge Ear Training Course and couldn't get passed the first tape. Your narration & content flowed, keeping me interested all the way through both CD's. I hope you come out with another Bass CD. Thanks! Aaron Gonzales, Tucson, AZ
FROM BILL MOORE, TN - 72 Years Old and Still Learning "Mark: I purchased your "Complete Guitar by Ear" and have started taking the lessons. Learning a lot. I am looking forward to completing the course and as a result know more about playing my guitar. I'm almost 72, retired and having a lot of fun learning to play my Martin D28... Who says that older people can't learn new things? Baloney." Bill Moore, TN
FROM JEAN WOZNIAK, NY - Playing For Over 30 Years Hi Mark! I received your Complete Guitar By Ear CD’s late yesterday afterday. I listened to both of them all the way through. I can say I was MORE than IMPRESSED! I’ve NEVER found any material to date that SIMPLIFIES Guitar Playing and Guitar Theory as these do! The CD’s will benefit guitarists of every level from Beginner through Advanced! Your method "Cuts To The Chase." These CD’s are a "MUST HAVE" for any guitarist!
...There wasn’t much written in the way of guitar theory until relatively recently. ...I’ve heard David Burges tapes over ten years ago and there is a distinct difference! Your approach gets right to the heart of the matter and does so with simplicity!
I’m so impressed with these CD’s I believe they should be introduced to local music stores and music teachers. ...These CD’s are an asset to any Guitarist repertoire of learning material.
Thanks for developing such a uniquely refreshing approach to Guitar Theory! Sincerely, Jean K. Wozniak, New York, NY

This method developed as a result of my students asking how I was able to learn songs by ear. During my weekly guitar lessons I would allow students to bring a tape or CD of a song they wanted to learn. I would listen to the song and write out the parts for my students. When they asked how I could do this, I used to tell them it comes with time. Still, students kept asking how they could learn to play by ear, so I put a system together. I've used this system with my private students for almost 10 years to date, (currently July 2005). Here's how it works in class: For part of a lesson, I'll have a music student face away from me. I'll tell them the general area where I'll be playing a note. example: First string, between the open and 4th fret. This gives the student five choices, open, 1st fret, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. I'll play a note and let the student find it. The lessons progressively advance as we go on until the student can play every note and note combination on every string. The results have been amazing! It has even worked with people who thought they were tone deaf. The Complete Guitar By Ear and Complete Bass Guitar By Ear CDs are the same lessons I teach my private students. Having seen the effectiveness of this method on all of my students I can honestly say I wish I had these CDs when I first started learning to play the guitar!

Taught me to hear, play, and understand better!
There are 2 CDs in this package. The idea is to listen to them with guitar in hand and play along. Just like the title hints, "Complete Guitar By Ear" is taught completely by ear. There is no booklet or written materials that come with it.
I was never able to figure out my favorite songs on guitar until I bought this course. I was very skeptical when ordering "Complete Guiatr By Ear" because I had tried other ear training books and CDs in the past. This course was very different and it actually worked!
The first CD starts out very basic, which was helpful for me. The first few tracks have you playing along with a short range of notes on the first string. Then as you get more comfortable the narrator has you find notes on your own by playing along with the recording. Next the second string is introduced, you play along, find notes, then combine the first and second strings. This continues until you have learned to play notes by ear on all 6 strings. By the end of disc one you have learned every note, and every note combination on every string.
The second CD has a lot of more advanced ear training lessons. It took me about 4 weeks to complete disc one and two the first time. I started figuring out my favorite songs after 2 weeks of using these CDs. I've listened and played along with disc 2 dozens of times and as a result I can name intervals just by hearing them. Also, I've noticed that when I have my guitar and I'm listening to a song that my hand automatically goes to the notes being played on the radio.
Other ear training courses make ear training seem mystical or impossible. "Complete Guitar By Ear" is easy to use and understand from beginning to end. It has given me an entirely different understanding and appreciation of music.
For absolute beginners only
The title of this course is very misleading. It is far from "complete". The author simply plays each interval, one kind at a time, in different places on the guitar and you find them. It does not have anything about relating a note to a key center/note, or anything about chords (type & function). I recommend Ear Training from Hal Leonard for a more complete course.
Totally helped me out.
This pitch trainer is simple yet effective. Cuts out all the useless guitar-jargon that just helps to confuse students. And best of all it deals with ONLY the guitar. After using this trainer I've learned over 20 of my favorite songs by ear! Thanks.
