Customer Reviews

Ok book... but unfortunately the author is a scam artist2
The book contains useful information... it's really decent to be honest, so why 3 Stars?

1. Ty Cohen is a scam artist. Take a look at the so-called "reviews" on this page here. Cohen wrote 90% of them all by himself or hired people to do so. You'll see that every person rating the book with 5 stars only wrote 1 review (the one you see here) or a couple more, but always reffered people to this book here. It's so obvious that it's a scam that it's ridiculious...

2. The grammar and spelling mistakes in the book are bad.. really bad... I oftentimes had to re-read a sentence over and over again to make a sense of it, since it contained grammar or spelling mistakes. Shouldnt happen.

3. Make $500.000 with the help of this book? Gimme a break... not possible.

Conclusion. You can buy this book. But there are better ones out there. If you want a overview over the music biz buy Jac Holzmann's biography "Follow The Music". Best book I've read about the industry ever. Other good books are.... "Confessions of a Record Producer" and "I dont need a record deal". Pick those, and save your money here.

Scam!1
The book, which is actually more like a booklet, starts out with five pages of testimonials proclaiming how great the book is. What follows are 67 pages of very basic information and another 13 pages at the end where the "author" advertises his other products and tells you how to buy them!!! I am totally disappointed and would not recommend this book to anyone.
In my view it's a scam. Also, Ty Cohen, or whoever has marketed this book, has written several reviews about other music business/industry books on Amazon, always starting off saying that "Yes, this is a good book but not as good as "How You Can Make 500 000...". He is basically spreading positive remarks all over Amazon.com under false names that he has made up. I hope Amazon takes his book and false marketing off the site.

This book was a complete and utter disappointment.1
I definitely DO NOT recommend Ty Cohen's book, "How you Can Make $500,000.00 or More a Year in the Music Industry by Doing it Yourself," to anyone. Not only does this book include extremely BASIC information, it comes complete with several typos and grammatical errors. It is ironic that Ty emphasizes spell checking for all promotional materials. Evidently, he fails to take his own advice.

More often than not, Ty's book is a "commercial" for other products and services. He fails to give any useful information and only points the reader to other avenues for additional research. His alleged secrets are nothing more than the intuitions we all have. If you are truly looking for a detailed and helpful book on the DIY approach, there are many other books available. PLEASE LOOK FURTHER THAN THIS BOOK. IT TRULY DISAPPOINTS.

On a closing note, I only wish that Amazon would allow a rating of "0 stars." One is the fewest we can give.

Best of luck!
