Great background book for audio engineers in the digital age
Wow !
I was expecting a beefed up version of the now famous internet papers by the author, but this book is really a full blown textbook (more than 350 pages !)

This book I would decribe as technical enough to be taken seriously, but still readable by a sound engineer (with a minimum of science/technical background however) something hard to achieve in this subject !
So much misinformed blabla has been written all over the place on digital audio, putting the record straight on a number of controversial aspects of
the subject was urgent, something that this book achieves pretty well

Only (small) minus point, a slightly bizarre printing job, with highly unequal margins. Not that I really care, but it makes it look less serious than "respectable" publications

In my opinion really worth the money if you are serious about understanding the issues about recording digital audio.

Excellent introduction, if you like technical details
If you're looking for a beginner's overview, this probably isn't the book you want.

But if you're the type who likes substantial technical information - but maybe aren't much of a mathematician - this is an EXCELLENT introduction to the subject of digital audio.

I have a shelf full of textbooks related to digital audio, but this is the one I recommend most often to serious recording hobbyists.

Became one of my favourite
I would recommend this book to everyone, who would like to learn some in depth information about digital audio. If you spend time and energy into understand and learn through this book, you'll be suprised how well you will understand technological issues. You'll be a better engineer by this book.
