Product Description
Guitar Clinic contains techniques and exercises Mr. Arnold uses in the clinics and workshops he gives throughout the United States and is written as a response to the many questions students have asked him over the years. Essential information and instruction is given in clear, easy to understand language, addressing the needs of both beginning and advanced students.
Much of the material in this book is culled from Mr. Arnold's educational series, over thirty books in all. The student wishing to expand on his or her studies will find suggestions within the text as to which of Mr. Arnold's books will best serve their specific needs.
Topics covered include: how to read music, sight reading, reading rhythms, music theory, chord and scale construction, modal sequencing, approach notes, reharmonization, bass and chord comping, and hexatonic scales.
Muse Eek Publishing Company hosts two on-line resources in conjunction with this book. A Frequently Asked Questions page (FAQ) is available where students can ask the author questions that may arise as they work. There is also a free member's section where book owners can download other files specific to this book and/or other help files to further their music education.
Unlike traditional situations where the reader is left on their own after purchase of a text, Muse-Eek Publishing seeks to keep the reader/student engaged and interactive with the author. With each book you are beginning a relationship in which help and direction is always available to make sure you learn the correct way.
This book is a required text for beginning guitarists at New York University and Princeton University and is recommended for beginning thru advanced guitar students ages 13 and up.

Editorial Reviews
From the Publisher
This book combines many of Mr. Arnold's previously published books and gives a reader an oversite into his teaching methods. We highly recommend this as an introduction into his teaching style.
From the Author
This book mostly contains excerpts from previous published books. A music student can use this book to check their musicianship skills in many areas. Also found in this book is some very hard to find information on many musical concepts commonly used by professional musicians. For instance there are sections on
1. How to play bass and chords at the same time
2. The use of Approach Notes in Jazz melodies
3. How to practice scales
4. Pentatonic and Hexatonic scales for improvisation
From the Inside Flap
I wrote this book to address the common questions asked, and common problems I find among students who attend the many clinics I give each year. The guitar student is, in a way, a special type of student. Many are self taught, and have no formal training. They have learned either through listening, word of mouth, or from books or magazines. Consequently there are frequent misunderstandings of simple to advanced concepts along with general misconceptions about what kind of discipline it takes to be a great guitarist.
Guitar is one of the hardest instruments to master. From its asymmetrically tuned strings, to its many repeated notes it is a real challenge for a player of any level to organize and develop even the simplest musical concepts.
This book presents a general overview of the major courses of study a serious guitar student should follow. It's just the tip of the iceberg, so as each musical concept is presented, further study recommendations are given for the student who wishes to become a master musician.
Muse Eek Publishing has created a website with a FAQ forum for all my books. If you have any questions about anything contained in this book feel free to contact me at FAQ@muse-eek.com and I will happy to post an answer to your question. My goal is to educate and help you reach a higher degree of musical ability.
