Grand Parlor Music5
If love listening to each and every piece on this disk, from beginning to end, no exceptions, each and every time out; no programing required. I was initially attracted to this disk for it's clarinet duo concept and "Benny's Gig" - so I went for it and am glad of it. I like the "paired" down concept, without brassy bombast or incessant and distracting jazz cymbal rides. (All jazz drummers should be mandated to lay out on all ballads, and cymbals, the drummers' crutch, banned completely for the sake of inprovisational creativity.) The music is interesting and/or beautiful, and the players sincere, on their game and having fun, and I think you will too. I suppose we could debate stars, but I sense that this outing will appeal to the vast majority of jazz affectionatos and most classical devotees, as well. Enjoy.
