Album Description
Peace Not War is a non-profit double CD produced in London to protest against the war in Iraq, to inform and inspire music listeners, and to raise funds for the peace movement. All proceeds will go to US peace groups committed to using totally non-violent methods to stopping the wars undertaken by the government since 9/11, and to promoting peaceful resolution to conflict. With a diverse mix of genres, this is the rebirth of protest music. 32 tracks from Ani DiFranco, Sleater-Kinney, Public Enemy, Yo La Tengo, Ms Dynamite, Public Enemy, Massive Attack, Alabama 3 and more. 2003. Peace Not War.

good driving music
I just received my copy of this album yesterday and listened to it while driving to meetings for work. It makes the time fly!
But on a more serious note, it is refreshing to hear my viewpoints -- on not just this war, but US imperialism in general -- reflected back at me through music. There is a wide mix of genres here which appeals to me as well. From folksy-sounding tracks like "United States" by Seize the Day, to punky tracks like Sleater-Kinney's "Combat Rock", to hip-hop Public Enemy's "Son of a Bush", to just plain groovy finds like Yo La Tengo's "Nuclear War", I think that just about every supporter of the anti-war movement could find something here that they would want to listen to over and over again.
My immediate favorite was "Nuclear War" by Yo La Tengo. The lyrics are very simple, but the call-and-response format featuring children singing "You can kiss your a** ... goodbye, goodbye..." is chillingly amusing. The track from Seize the Day is a close second. The last line, "Somebody made a killing in your name / so take your power back, or take the blame" should be enough to make anyone think about what it means to be an American at this point in history.
You Better Begin to Care! Open Your Eyes.
Inspiring works of harsh political reality. ...Not just music, but a sobering slap in the face concerning the injustices being served up by a President un-elect.
Music to motivate anti-war AND anti-Bush people.
This cd is a must for people who are anti-war activists, and for those who are tired of the Bush Administrations bad deeds. Ani DiFranco's "Self Evident" and Public Enemy's "Son of a Bush" will have you fist pumping and ready to march onto the streets.
