Album Description
When Evening Ocean began recording "The Attraction", the goal was to make an electronica record that captured the spark of attraction from beginning to end. From the urgent pianos of "The Attraction", to the lush hallucinations of "Senses Awake", the stutter beats of "Waiting For You At The Subway Platform", to the delicate pop of "Ending (Open Your Eyes)"; each track connects into each other as a whole. Styles shift throughout: ambient/electronica/dance/pop.

The Attraction was mastered by Don Grossinger who also mastered Brian Wilson's Smile LP, as well as projects for Faithless,Pink Floyd, and the Rolling Stones. The artwork for the CD was created by London artist Natalie Shau, who most recently created artwork for Lacuna Coil. Evening Ocean's influences: Faithless, Kraftwerk, Underworld, Prince, Miles Davis and David Bowie.
"The Attraction" is being played on radio including "The New Dreamers" show on KLCC-FM.

Beautiful, evocative sound5
With the urgent piano, ethereal synth-chords and some of the more visceral space-noises, this album has so much to say and speaks its point beautifully. If you're a fan of ambient music, by all means, you can turn on "The Attraction" and just "coast" to it in the background. However, if you didn't discern from the previews, Evening Ocean is not your typical 'relax and go to sleep' music. Instead, Evening Ocean has harnessed a rare, precious sound that evokes, colors and radiates. Some tracks are conversational and others are capable of making your heart leap into your throat. The album is an especially fine tonic for any creative-types out there with visually-driven imaginations. (Personally, from the moment I heard "The Note" it was like something shifted and I was able to start writing again after a long, dark slump). Each track is unique to its message within the overall context of the project. You will not be bored hearing the same three basic keys over and over--in all likelihood, you will probably wind up breathless. I can't wait to hear what they'll come up with next!

it's good3
I looked at the other reviews and I felt compelled to let you know that I think this is a good CD but I don't think it's that good. There is music as good or better than this, it sounds a lot like Ulrich Schnauss. His last two are this good or better. (Strangely Isolated, and Goodbye) Some of this music is stunning but some is not and it varies in tempo and intensity and for me I dislike some of it as much as I love other parts of it. But if your budget can handle it and you like to listen to new, possibly challenging music go for it. I did.

Melodic Beats And Rich Rhythms5
"The Attraction" by Evening Ocean is an extremely fascinating journey into electronic music. From melodic beats and rich rhythms, to pulsating mechanisms of sound, this is an enjoyable CD that's well worth owning.

With each track being its own unique artistic expression, it's difficult to describe this CD in one particular style. I personally prefer the tracks that have lush piano pieces and bold symphonic-like statements. These tracks seem to come from the soul of Evening Ocean and seem to be his own heart-felt expressions.

Of all the tracks, "The Haze" has to be my favorite. This is a track that blends what sounds like an electronic harpsichord with pads. This is again something that points to the creativity and exceptional singularity that this musician has.

Fans of electronic and ambient music will find great pleasure in giving each track on this CD a shot. There seems to be a wide variety of innovation and talent here that many will enjoy and return to.
