Customer Reviews
Not a bad keyboard for young beginners - not recommend for adults
This is a decent keyboard for young beginners (age 8-12) but in my opinion not for anything above 12. The First thing I'm going to point out is the sound quality on this unit is terrible comparing to the cheap Yamaha YPT-310. (I also used Shure SCL4 bud to test them). However this keyboard does have better keys than the Yamaha (the keys are semi-weighted) and they have good actions. I noticed when I am practicing on this keyboard it is a lot easier in some songs (Fur Elise is what came up to my mind, the fast part is a lot easier on this keyboard) If you are more focused on how the keyboard sound then this is not for you. I would recommend getting the Yamaha YPT-310 over this if you want the sound. This keyboard also does not have MIDI IN/OUT but it does have an USB port (haven't tried using it yet). Note that I did not purchase the bundle so I cannot comment on the stand or headphone that comes with this bundle.
Pros:
-Very nice keys, a lot better than the Yamaha YPT-310
-Touch Sensitive
-Lighted Keys (you can turn it on/off)
-it has self teaching capability on the keyboard - very nice for beginners.
-it is very light, noticeable weight difference comparing to the YPT-310
Cons:
-sounds terrible comparing to YPT-310
-one of the middle F keys produce static/buzz sound if you hit it very hard @ max volume when not using headphone
-the screen at the center of the keyboard does not have light - this can be very annoying at nights or in dark rooms.
-no sustain on/off option - this means you have to buy a sustain pedal for this keyboard.
-no MIDI IN/OUT - but it does have USB
Bottom Line:
This is a great keyboard for your kids at young age but this is def not a good buy for adults (sound wise) I would recommend getting something with better sound. I did not enjoy playing this keyboard as much as I did on the YPT310 because it just sounds bad on most of the pieces I played. If are willing to spend a little more I would recommend Casio PX120 for the weighted keys and full 88 keys.
fun way to learn to play
This is a great piano for someone who wants to learn to play. It is easy because you follow the lights on the keyboard to know which keys to play. The songs start easy like Twinkle little Star or Home on the range, and move up in difficulty level from there, all the way up to some favorite classical pieces that are more advanced. The tone for the piano sound is really good and the key action feels good to for the price! It is also like a piano in the way the keys react to the amount of force you use to hit a key. Hit it soft and the sound is quiet, hit a little harder and the sound gets louder, just like a real piano. You can plug in the headphones so nobody has to hear your mistakes while you learn. Nice! We are all having a great time playing this keyboard. Highly recommended for beginners. You will have lots of fun with this keyboard. The price is great too!
Nice entry level piano
I bought this keyboard for my 11-year old daughter and she has just loved it. I have been very impressed with the sound quality of the tone bank and rhythms. I definitely recommend getting the premium pack - the stand and power pack are very useful. The headphones are not the best but good enough for occasional use. After using it for awhile I do wish it had some recording features so you could record a part and then play along with it. However for the price it does a good job!
