Four Comedies (Ann Arbor Paperbacks)Four Comedies (Ann Arbor Paperbacks) by Aristophanes
Buy new: $14.95 / Used from: $0.01
Lysistrata - This is the translation we used for the BLT 2008 production. It is the tamest in terms of harsh language, and uses the theory that even though ancient greeks used what we would consider course language about body parts and such, modern audience can't buy Lysistrata as being in the social stratum she's in unless she uses more innuendo. Very cool.

The biggest laugh? On this sequence: Are you waiting for someone? Yes, my lover. Oh, there she is now! ::waving::
Opal is a Diamond (A Play)Opal is a Diamond (A Play) by John Patrick
Opal is a Diamond - This series, which begins with Everybody Loves Opal - is a big money-making series for community theatres. Inanother brilliant choice by director Michael Kelley. He flipped the genders on the two most sexist a-hole characters, thereby turning their anti-female ranting into hilarious attempts at bringing men down to size.
