English Journey - wonderful book by J.B. Priestly that I mention above re: An Inspector Calls

Little Women: I was Marmee in an unpublished Seattle adaptation. This is a book I read for research on the real Alcott family. Civil war Massachusetts, 4 kids, disease... my real life is great, man!

The Cripple of Inishmaan: As Aunty Eileen, I explored Irish humour and the scraping of a life out of a rock in the eastern atlantic cean.

Angry Housewives: I was Wendi, who talks 3 middle-aged women friends into forming a punk band. I grew up as a girl drummer, when that wasn't cool thing to be. Things have changed!

Jesus Christ Superstar: I just sang mezzo in the chorus/crowd, but it's a phenomenal physical experience. If you can ever be in this show, _do_. The music _makes_ you move. Play it to the fullest.

I Never Saw Another Butterfly: There are no words for the glimpse into concentration camp life that this gave me. Tough translation. Worth every moment. Rest in peace, Irena.

Deathtrap: I played Myra - one of my few timid, regular-lady characters. Jumpy and increasingly suspicious, she's dead by the second act. Do this play, you can die & watch Act 2 from the booth!

Dark of the Moon: I was the guitar player and a few merged characters, my first show at William & Mary. In Virginia. Where people know what a revival scene should be- chaotic, cacophenous, musical... and dangerous.

The Sorceror and Trial by Jury: I used this book to research the time and setting for these G&S shows. Didn't help with the modern movie references thrown in, though. ::chuckle::

Morning, by Israel Horovitz: Part of a trilogy "Morning, Noon and Night" written with other authors, I was Gertrude in "Morning". I woke up really pale one morning and discovered it changed nothing.

Top Girls - another partial production for a studio class. I was Joyce, I saw a few things from my siblings' perspective for awhile...

Lysistrata - This is the translation we used for the BLT 2008 production. It is the tamest in terms of harsh language, and uses the theory that even though ancient greeks used what we would consider course language about body parts and such, modern audience can't buy Lysistrata as being in the social stratum she's in unless she uses more innuendo. Very cool.

Tell-Tale Heart - Part of a trilogy at Stone Soup Theatre around Halloween time in 2007. Our director added off-stage demons whispered repeats of certain lines, breathing like the sleeping old man, and making heartbeat sounds. I took a hint from a friend who's a sound designer and brought in some PVC pipes and cardboard carpet tubes, and we used them to make the heartbeats.

Trifles - part of the halloween trilogy at Stone Soup Theatre 2007. I was Mrs. Hale. You know how you're watching CSI and about 20 minutes in, you think, if these people were just smarter, this show would be over now. Well, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters _are_ that smart! :-}

I was Kate in this, with my friend Yvette playing Sylvia. Great drunk scene and dog fight with Yvette. :-} At Burien Little Theatre in 2006.

Ravenscroft - mystery/comedy set in an English manor house. Hysterical. :-} I did this at the Mercer Island Players in 2005.

Opal is a Diamond - This series, which begins with Everybody Loves Opal - is a big money-making series for community theatres. Inanother brilliant choice by director Michael Kelley. He flipped the genders on the two most sexist a-hole characters, thereby turning their anti-female ranting into hilarious attempts at bringing men down to size.
