You should play some songs, seriously. If all you do is study-study-study you'll burn out and you won't learn anything. You're learning to have fun, so have fun with some easy Black Sabbath songs such as Paranoid, Iron Man, and War Pigs.

Fretboard mastery. Goes over some basic theory, and ear training. Play with this for an hour a day maybe. This will provide the most important foundation for playing guitar: it will let you play what you hear. A week or two on the first lesson (ear training for major intervals) and you'll start really picking it up.
Metal Rhythm Guitar Vol. 1Metal Rhythm Guitar Vol. 1 by Troy Stetina
Buy new: $13.57 / Used from: $11.99
Starting with this book for rhythm basics. Rhythm guitar introduces two things: rhythm and chord structure. The lead, bassist, rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist all follow the same chord structure and the same rhythm; even if some of the lead parts (guitar, vocals, keyboard) get a little crazy with it, they still follow the same basic rhythm.

Metal Lead Guitar PrimerMetal Lead Guitar Primer by Troy Stetina
Buy new: $13.57 / Used from: $9.50
Primer for getting into lead guitar. The lead guitar plays the solos in the song; when you hear the vocalist shut up and all these crazy notes start coming out of the amp, that's the lead guitar. It's present throughout the rest of the song too, you probably get the idea.

Epiphone Les Paul Studio Chameleon Electric Guitar, Silver/LimeEpiphone Les Paul Studio Chameleon Electric Guitar, Silver/Lime
Buy new: $399.00
Personally I like this Epi; you should pick a guitar you like though! An Epiphone Les Paul Studio is nice, but you might want a Stratocaster or an Explorer or whatnot, or another type of Epi LP.
S.o.s. Guitar TunerS.o.s. Guitar Tuner
Buy new: $14.95
Strobe on String tuner, you select the note and point it at fret 12 on the string and tune it until the lights stop moving around. Bend behind the nut (see Guitar Tricks) to check how much you need to tune up. You can use this as just a tuner in its own right; I use it with the Korg sometimes to fine-tune.
Wittner 6411 Metronome (Mahoganey Wood case with bell)Wittner 6411 Metronome (Mahoganey Wood case with bell)
Buy new: $132.99
This is a pricey and fancy mechanical wind-up metronome; you need something like this to keep time. Nice solid mahogany case, swinging pendulum, with a bell. Extremely accurate. Other types you can get include digital ones (beep, beep, beep...) or cheaper plastic ones for around $30-ish that may delay a little on one side of the swing.
