Of course, you can't leave Sarah out of any list of top-quality female vocalists. She's one of the best for more than a decade.

No list of great female vocals is complete without throwing in some songs by Enya. Her only weakness, in my opinion, is that every album follows the same stylistic approach, but it works! So, you're fine with a hits collection. She really created her own genre, and it's beautiful.

I became a fan of Loreena McKennitt with this Parallel Dreams album back in the early 90's. It's Celtic folk, but with a heavy dose of passion, and lush arrangements. It's a great place to start.

OK, this on is a band from Spain, and thus the lyrics are all in Spanish. But don't let that scare you away. She has one of the most beautiful voices in pop music! I also love the arrangements, which vary from synthpop and dance to Latin salsa and Flamenco. Just a solid, wonderful album!

OK, if you want a touch of middle-eastern and Indian tradition, here is an album to pick up. WOW! This woman can sing! It's not pop-- it's definitely "world music", but it's great.

This gal has a unique and wonderful voice. Her blend of pop, folk, and her relaxed presentation is wonderful. You can put it on, kick back, and drift away.

This was the 2nd Somegirl album, and has some really smooth, nice tracks on it.

This is the third album by Glow, and it's a good one, as is their first two. The combination of the electronics, acoustic elements, and her voice are sublime.
