Finally ... A real encouraging "You Can Do It Too" lesson.
This is especially perfect for the self taught musician who has felt like he or she needs to learn how to apply music theory, so as to understand and execute true concepts of chord and scale applications.
I'm still continuing to watch and listen to this DVD over and over, even when doing house chores. You'd be surprised how much you really need to know, and will learn quickly what to practice on.
Jamie's lesson has put new life into my music creating desires, and I'll forever be greatful to have discovered his methods.
THANKS A MILLION JAMIE.
The First Step for Improvisors
Aebersold explains music theory in a practical way. He uses a piano for the examples because it is the best way for him to teach and for us to learn the lessons; however, the viewer doesn't need to play piano. Once the lessons are heard it is obvious that they applied to almost all instruments. I like the simple way he explains the seven MODES. If you have never studied an Aebersold lesson, this is where to start. The following is copied from [...]
This nearly two-hour long DVD features Jamey at the piano explaining and demonstrating the fundamental techniques used by all great jazz improvisors. Topics covered include chord/scale relationships, keeping your place, patterns, the blues and pentatonic scales and their application, what and how to practice, articulation, memorizing songs, and much more. This DVD not only provides the technical information essential to getting started on improvisation but also serves as an overview of the entire creative process in terms that even a non-musician could understand. Jamey also provides much needed motivational material and discusses the philosophy of man's need to be creative. A complete presentation!
This DVD is closely aligned with the world famous Volume 1 How to Play Jazz and Improvise Volume 1 -- Includes CD and Volume 24 Learn to Improvise Jazz Volume 24: Major & Minor in Every Key For All Instruments Great for Learning the Basics! Play-a-long Book & 2 CD Set play-a-longs (see "related items" below.) The visual, hands-on demonstration makes their concepts easier to grasp. Jamey even plays along with tracks from those two play-a-long volumes, showing proper application of scales to chords and essential practice techniques.
This one is the "Must Have"
This video is the must have. If you want to master the art of improvisation, just by it. Jamey expose in a simple way how is very easy to improvise.
