![]() | ArmA: Combat Operations
Buy new: $13.89 / Used from: $2.59 Operation Flashpoint's spiritual successor. The ultimate military sandbox shooter.
![]() | ArmA II
Buy new: $46.99 Similar to ArmA 1 with all the popular mods and improved graphics. That's a great thing, in my opinion.
![]() | IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946
Buy new: $24.99 / Used from: $5.49 The quintessential WWII combat flight sim. If you want to shoot down ME-109s, this is the game to do it with.
![]() | GTR 2: Realism Redefined
Buy new: $26.99 / Used from: $19.99 One of my favorite unforgiving racing sims. Want to race on a track at midnight during a thunderstorm? This is your game.
![]() | GTR Evolution
Buy new: $18.99 / Used from: $11.51 A somewhat updated version of GTR 2. Feels a little lacking, however. Nurburgring is the reason to get this 'un. Well, until iRacing gets it.
![]() | Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45
Buy new: $29.99 / Used from: $6.85 I love me some Red Orchestra! More simulator-esque than anything, its often slow-paced. Still fun. No other game has handled shooting mechanics quite as well. I wish more games would let you steady your aim on any ledge.
![]() | Day of Defeat: Source
Buy new: $68.98 / Used from: $8.05 Though it plays faster than it's predecessor, DoD:Source will be a classic in my eyes. Grenade hot potato never gets old.
![]() | Call of Duty
Buy new: $56.88 / Used from: $5.23 Behold Call of Duty's PC roots! I remember mentally slapping my head when a Gamestop employee was not familiar with the franchise upon the 360 launch. "That Call of Duty game looks interesting." It certainly has a following now. Anyways, heavily-scripted FPS gameplay that set the bar for blockbuster AAA games.
![]() | Call of Duty: United Offensive Expansion Pack
Buy new: $19.99 / Used from: $1.99 A great expansion to the been-there, done-that feel to COD 1's multiplay. Rideable Tanks and jeeps enter the fray. Base assault mode is a nirvana of online play to this day. It's cheap and runs great on current hardware for those that would want to give it a try. Singleplayer is great, too.
![]() | The Orange Box
Buy new: $27.99 / Used from: $15.25 A smorsgasbord of Valve's best. Something for everyone here: HL2 for story, TF2 for online play and Portal for puzzles.
![]() | S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
Buy new: $21.99 / Used from: $4.49 A great RPG/FPS hybrid by a great European developer. It was an Oblivion with guns before Fallout 3. And in a lot of ways it has a leg up on Fallout 3.
![]() | Crysis
Buy new: $109.94 / Used from: $14.85 Possibly the last PC blockbuster :-( Crysis is arguably still the best-looking game around and it's beauty just enhanced it's sandbox style action.
![]() | Fallout 3
Buy new: $37.99 / Used from: $17.98 Oblivion with guns and the companion mods, key ring mods, and all kinds of mods... j/k. A wonderful RPG game that will give you hours of gameplay wandering the wastes, shooting mutants and getting into adventures and stuff. Ya know, like Kang on Kung Fu.
![]() | Battlefield: 1942
Buy new: $56.24 / Used from: $1.29 THE classic. Still my all time fave for vehicle based conquest.
![]() | Battlefield 1942 Expansion: The Road to Rome
Buy new: $49.94 / Used from: $0.01 An excellent addition to BF1942. Reality based vehicles, no rocket packs here. Tsk, tsk, Secret Weapons of WWII!
![]() | Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
Buy new: $29.99 / Used from: $1.85 After watching Saving Private Ryan, everyone wanted to storm the beach during D-Day. This game was the first that allowed you to do that. Then 30 games did it.
![]() | Medal of Honor Allied Assault Spearhead Expansion Pack
Buy new: $69.94 / Used from: $0.50 After Band of Brothers, everyone wanted to paratroop into Normandy and survive the Battle of the Bulge. Ta da! The other expansions weren't quite as good.
![]() | F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon
Buy new: $29.98 / Used from: $5.99 Max Payne did bullet time extremely well, but FEAR did it best. Its highly kinetic firefights always left you feeling extremely satisfied. Better "---- your pants" moments than Doom 3.
![]() | Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos
Buy new: $8.07 / Used from: $3.07 Every galactic body is set at correct distances to each other. Loved the intuitive navigation system via the hat switch. Dropping out of lightspeed to attack a target and being forced to manually scream back up to that speed (because of nearby enemies) will be something I'll always remember. It really makes you feel the ship is about to tear itself apart.
![]() | Logitech G25 Racing Wheel
Buy new: Too low to display / Used from: $210.00 Though one has broke on me, it's still the best deal for sim racing.
![]() | Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 Joystick
Buy used from: $59.95 I've had FFB joysticks over the years, but this one has lasted longer than any (8 years) and is still accurate.
![]() | Naturalpoint Trackir 4: Pro By Ergoguys
Buy used from: $109.99 A lovely addition to racing, flying and tac-shooting.
![]() | Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical
Buy new: $18.32 / Used from: $9.95 Gaming mice aside, nothing has beaten this trusty old beaut.
