Inexpensive solution
The Belkin Earbud Clip Cable Management for iPod is a simple and inexpensive solution to tangled earbud cords. I bought one for use with my iPhone. After a little experimentation, I found the best way to wrap my earbuds around it so that they could be easiliy unwrapped later. Even the microphone/remote switch fits nicely under the cover. I wish it had an automatic retract feature though. I had a problem with the belt clip. There's so little to grab that it's very hard to open. Still this is much better than pulling a wad of tangled wire out of your pocket.
Belkin Earbud Cable Clip
This clip works fine for earbuds that do not have a "thick" cable. My Bose earbuds do not work well with this clip because the room for the cable is not large enough but my JVC earbuds work fine.
Too Big
For what this product is, it ought to have been a minimum of 50% the size it is. "Light" is a relative word; since I want to clip it to the front of my shirt, it pulls on the collar too much. With a little imagination, this could have been much, much smaller and lighter and lost none of the function. I have it, so I will continue to use it, but I will also be looking for another product to do what I wanted this one to do comfortably.
