And They Stick to Your Face Too!
With all the fancy-schmancy baby toys on the market today, these simple plastic beads remain one of my baby's favorites. While he's not old enough to snap the beads together, he does love to stare at the chain of beads as it wiggle-woggles around and to eventually pull the beads apart into smaller and smaller chains. In addition, these beads make great bathtub toys, since they float and can be used to fill and spill water. And, what's more -- and this is truly the very best part about the toy -- the beads can stick to your face if you're old (and strong) enough to squeeze the air out of the beads. My husband has many fond childhood memories of having contests over which sibling could attach the most snap-lock beads to his face without them falling off. And he apparently hasn't outgrown this game, since our baby squeals with delight when he sees Daddy's face covered with red, yellow, and purple snap-lock beads!
colorful fun
Our toddler loves his beads so much that he's got two whole sets! He still struggles to pop them together but popping them apart is a blast...not to mention he still loves to chew on them and of course, throw them! There are no bells or whistles on these beads, they don't need batteries but they last a lifetime. Every child I've known has loved these beads. I'm looking forward to using them to teach colors to him!
A Classic
The reason this toy has endeared over the years is its simplicity, which fosters creative thinking for baby. Since it doesn't do anything, e.g. make music, squeak, rattle, etc., baby's natural curiosity takes over and the learning begins. At first, it's a teether (the ends of the beads can get a bit chewed up from baby's teeth). As children grow, they invent new ways to incorporate the beads into their play. My son and daughter both enjoyed this toy well into their third year.
