Really Hard Puzzle
I've had this puzzle for about 3-4 months now, and I've only assembled the edge pieces and a few of the internal pieces. This is a very challenging puzzle.
I recommend that those who have alot of time on their hands and a very big table or wooden board purchase this puzzle.
It's GREAT!!
A Father's Legacy
My father liked this puzzle so much he bought 2 of them before his death. He did get around to assembling one of them before he realizes he had a duplicate. Ravensburger puzzles, in general and with regards to the larger piece-count puzzles, make great gifts that can be assembled, taken apart, and then reassembled many times. (My mom worked in a warehouse with no windows so dad's puzzles became her windows. When completed he would puzzle coat the front, and mount the back on sturdy backing (depended on size what he used)and then mount to the wall where she wanted it. Then, she would put curtains up around it and it really did seem like she had a window from her desk. She fooled more than one customer when they would come in as they'd glance and depending on the scene it could be pretty comical.)
This is not a child's puzzle unless they have the patience of a saint and the room to work it. Once dad worked one that ended up being 6 FEET long and 5 FEET wide-- I kid you not, and the scene was a mountain reflecting on a still lake-- almost impossible to tell which side was the "up" side.
Overall you will love the feel of the pieces and the cut of the pieces are top notch. Once assembled, you will not usually beable to see light from between the pieces, the cut is that precise. The backing of the pieces is also a heavier material than most commerical children's puzzles. These pieces do not bend easily, but when 'finesse' is involved you don't have to worry a whole lot about breaking pieces.
If you want quality, spend the money and get a quality puzzle like Ravensburger. BTW- get a 'true color' light to make working these larger puzzles easier. With true light (or the blue-color REVEAL bulbs) you can differentiate between the varying colors of blue/green etc used in complex images.
