A healer removes the pain of a broken wrist in fifteen minutes. Another removesan ovarian tumor in a couple of weeks. Still another, from thousands of miles away, regenerates the nerves of an injured spine for a patient on whom the doctors had given up. These sound like tabloid stories but could they be true? They are just three out of millions of instances in which healers have claimed to manipulate energy fields to cure the body.
Books on vibrational medicine, prayer, and spiritual healing present readers with an array of historical and current discoveries and techniques. But so far nobody has addressed the reality of healing through comprehensive scientificresearch. The Energy Healing Experiments fills that void. Harvard-educated Dr. Gary E. Schwartz provides scientific experiments and evidence to reveal the truth about the existence of energy fields and unlocks their potential for enhancing your health.

Editorial Reviews
From Publishers Weekly
Are energy fields real? And if so, can they be used for healing and health? Yes, according to Schwartz (The G.O.D. Experiments), a professor of psychology, surgery, medicine, neurology and psychiatry at the University of Arizona. He tells marvelous stories of such healings and uses experiments to confirm that the human body is a bundle of energy that can be healed by another such bundle of energy. One story is of a four-year-old boy, Philip, whose heart rate dropped precipitously following surgery; a Hindu avatar, by merely touching Philip, increased his heart rate to 80 beats a minute. Through experiments with EEGs and EKGs, Schwartz says, he and others have found that our bodies are masses of biochemical energy, that such energy connects us to plants and other animals, that this energy can be harnessed for healing and that some people are in touch with their energy and use it to heal others. Schwartz's research has not appeared in peer-reviewed journals (due to their bias against such work, he says), so skeptics will want to wait for his experiments to be replicated. But those disposed to believe in the healing touch will find support for that belief. (Aug.)

Review
"Over the past three decades, an impressive body of scientific evidence has quietly emerged that points to stunning new insights into consciousness and itscapacity to mediate healing. Dr. Gary Schwartz's The Energy HealingExperiments is a stellar introduction to this dazzling evidence, which willtransform the very meaning of 'healing.' " Larry Dossey, MD, author of The Extraordinary Healing Power of Ordinary Things
"For more than 30 years, I have known and learned from the truly creative geniusof Dr. Gary Schwartz. In The Energy Healing Experiments his courageousodyssey continues with scientific rigor, penetrating insights, his characteristic twinkling humor, and true wisdom."Kenneth R. Pelletier, PhD, MD(hc), author of New Medicine and internationalbestseller Mind As Healer, Mind As Slayer
"In The Energy Healing Experiments, scientist Gary Schwartz reveals his thrilling journey to the threshold of 21st-century medicine. There we encounterthe promise of new classes of therapies based on the modulation of energy and intention. While we don't know yet exactly how these new therapies work, the fact that they work is being firmly established by Schwartz and others, as reported in this riveting first-person account."Dean Radin, PhD, author of Entangled Minds and The Conscious Universe
"This is a lovely book. I congratulate Gary Schwartz, with William Simon, on a very readable and lucid book on the important and complex topic of energy/information healing as distinguished from chemical/nutritional healing. It is highly recommended for all readers because it will significantly transform the public mind-set in very beneficial ways."
William A. Tiller, PhD, author of Science and Human Transformation
"Through the able hand of a master scientist, this book is a reliable guide to the complex and sometimes perplexing engagement of mind, body, and spirit."

Good Review & Analysis Of Energy Healing Research Evidence
I first came across Schwartz' work almost a decade ago in the Living Energy Universe. His subsequent books have been more focused, and the Energy Healing Experiments looks at the research and evidence validating the power of consciousness and intention to guide healing energies. This book provides solid evidence and explores important questions raised by both believers and skeptics. As an energy healer I know what I observe and experience with myself and clients, so I don't need convincing... but for those who lack the expanded sensory awareness to feel and perceive energy healing it's useful to have empirical findings and methodically designed experiments that confirm something is happening that can't be explained in a materialistic manner. Gary Schwartz has done well in collecting this evidence and presenting it within a thoughtful analysis and discussion of its implications. This book is practical and more scientifically-oriented than spiritually oriented even though it does bring up the spiritual and philosophical implications of energy healing. I recommend this for healers who want to have a collection of research that supports their work, as well as the general public and skeptics who wish to carefully consider the evidence regarding this phenomenon.
Meticulous Research Presented in a User Friendly Way, Plus a Glimpse into the Mind of a Great Scientist
This book is an organized and convincing exploration of not just the research Schwartz has done into energy healing, but his personal journey from skepticism to advocacy. His meticulous research design, his sterling qualifications, and his equal interest in what works and what doesn't, all make him a credible commentator on the field. He walks the reader through the various explanations, from local to beyond quantum, for energy healing. He describes the energy fields that we know, like those behind cell phone technology, and how these are analogous to the signals from the hands of healers. The book also provides a handy and understandable guide to the wavelengths involved, some of which I talk about in my own book, The Genie in Your Genes: Epigenetic Medicine and the New Biology of Intention. Schwartz also gives frank insights into his own thought processes, from initial insights such as when, as a boy, he placed his hands on the antenna connections of an old TV and watched the signal change; gazing into the mind of a pioneering researcher is fascinating. While the jargon in which scientists insist on presenting their findings in peer reviewed journals is impenetrable to the lay person, this book is understandable, well-paced, and entertaining. It is destined to become a classic in this field.
I Give Up
I read the G.O.D. book and was mildly interested, but, frankly had grave doubts about the research/conclusions therein. Now see another book by G.S. I was about to bite untill I read the comment the stuff is not peer reviewed because of 'their' bias. Oh Right!!!! Sounds very much like the same tired line. The (Doctors, Med. Profession, Drug Companies, Scientists)don't really understand and/or don't want you to know all this important information. sure as heck not going to waste my money on this one.
