Editorial Reviews
From Booklist
The cat is out of the bag! The "average" millionaire is not so different than the average anyone else. Thomas Stanley and William Danko told us so in The Millionaire Next Door (1996), and since then there have been a host of spin-offs and imitators telling us essentially the same thing. Most of the wealthy live simply, invest carefully, and buy sensibly. One significant distinction is that most millionaires are also successful in starting their own businesses and sticking with them. It seems that this is the case in Australia, too. Sher himself made his money by starting a publishing enterprise that specializes in putting out summaries of management books for businesspersons who do not have much time to read. Although American authors have focused on the simple lifestyles and investing habits of the well-to-do, Sher emphasizes their entrepreneurial skills. His guide is as much of a small-business manual as it is a how-to-get-rich one. Emphasizing the advantages of being one's own boss, Sher covers motivation, marketing, managing people, interpersonal skills, and business systems and procedures. David Rouse

Customer Reviews
One of the finest entrepreneurial how-to books ever written. Buy this book right now.
I am shocked that anyone could have rated "What Rich People Know" anything less than FIVE STARS. As a three-time published author and owner of two successful businesses that I started from the ground up, I can speak from personal experience that this book is essential reading for all entrepreneurs. True: it is not a -how-to-get-rich-quick book (which is what a lot of critics were probably looking for), but it is probably one of the finest entrepreneurial business textbooks I have ever read. And as anyone who has read Robert Kiyosaki knows---running your own business is the most-surefire way to riches on the planet. As I redesign the business plan and strategy for my own business, the Unstoppable Artists Business School in Manhattan, I decided to re-read this excellent book. I thought I had underlined all of its wisdom the first time around. I was mistaken, and now the book is nearly illegible from all of the marks and comments I have made to nearly every page. If you run your own business or are in PMA (Publicity, Marketing, Advertising) in any capacity, your breadth of knowledge and wisdom will sky-rocket by reading this book. Some of the reviews are on-target when they say that he doesn't 'give you ideas'. But that's sort of the whole point in business: UNIQUENESS. If author Brian Sher gave you all the 'ideas', then your business would not be unique in any way. You benefit primarily from this book's inspiration. As you read it--if you are open to such--your OWN ideas will start popping into your head with every turn of the page. Brilliant ideas. Wild ideas. Crazy Ideas. Subtle ideas. Simple ideas. But ideas nonetheless. What rich people know is this: YOU NEED TO START AND RUN A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS OF YOUR OWN IN ORDER TO BECOME AS RICH AS YOU INTEND IN YOUR DREAMS. This book will inspire and instruct you in doing just that.
ROMP ON!

Passing on many of the tips he has learned and used in his own life, he gives us the secrets of building a successful business and/or life. Wonderful ideas that turn one off customers into lifelong friends, multiple purchasers and walking ambassadors for your business.
Everyone after reading this book, will walk away with dozens of practical ideas that can be easily incorporated and practically implemented. Best of all, Sher gives you a money back guarantee and his email contact if the book doesn't contribute solidly to their business.
This guy actually practices what he preaches!!!
Have a look and tell me there's not something for everyone. I wish the ideas offered in all business books were this easy to read, understand and implement.
Brian emphasises the need to continue improving oneself, through reading, learning, adopting new ideas, watching others and remaining informed. Also he promotes flexiblity, durability, service, honesty, planning, goal setting and many other areas needed by business people to ensure success. He stresses the need to be True to Oneself in business and life and if you really want it, work hard (and smart) to attain it.
I'll be recommending it to all my friends whether self-employed or looking to forge a career for themselves. Through his common sense ideas and simple teachings, who knows how many lives Brian Sher will change for the better and the amount of success that will flow as a result.
Follow the advice in this book to achieve success
This book has a poor title but great content. I don't know how secret the ideas are, but it's full of very useful information. Brian Sher lays out techniques that rich people use to become successful.
I usually highlight books that I read to capture interesting parts. This book has more highlighting then most of the books I've read.
I believe that if you follow just 5% of the ideas listed you will become successful. The problem with most books of this type is that the information is excellent, but how do you incorporate the techniques into your life?
I identified 275 interesting things you can do to increase your chances of success. The book touches on some of the following:
* Money
* Happiness
* Change
* Marketing
* Employees
* Systems
* Learning
* Failure
* Goal setting
* Getting Help
* Optimism
* Job Success
* Customer focus
* Increasing Sales
* Reducing risk to customer
* Testing
* Selling
* Magical Experiences
* Finding your USP (Unique Selling Proposition)
and much more.
