Alice H. Eagly is professor and chair of psychology and faculty fellow of the Institute for Policy Research at Northwestern University. Linda L. Carli is an associate professor of psychology at Wellesley College.

I think that the authors have set a new baseline for discussion and insight in the quest for women's workplace equality, and beyond. The scientific foundation for their analysis finally moves the subject past anecdotal and self-reinforcing generalizations. A well written comprehensive review of research relating to women and leadership. Organized according to questions about leadership e.g. "Do Women Lead Differently from Men?" each chapter reviews the research, discusses trends, and suggests how women might respond. Unlike many titles on this topic, this is an evenhanded review of the research whose objective is to provide information to women as they navigate the turns and barriers of the labyrinth as they move forward in their careers.
