 | Rolas de Aztlán: Songs of the Chicano Movement by Various Artists
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $7.65 A compilation of protest music from the Chicano movement, this one is made up mainly of field and amateur recordings, so it's a little on the raw side. Still in addition to being an important historical document, it provide a great deal of powerful music. On a sidenote, it also includes some early recording by Los Lobos, back when they were Los Lobos de Los Angeles.

 | Viento de Agua Unplugged: Materia Prima by Viento de Agua
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $2.00 A spotlight on the two primary afro-boricua musical traditions, the plena and bomba. Viento de Agua play them stripped down, so those who may have encountered the plena through the big band sound of Plena Libre or Cortijo will be pleasantly surprised.

Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $7.49 I've said it before, and I'll say it again there's not enough merengue tipico recordings around, and one listen to this one will let you know why. Merengue and accordion might not seem like the best of partners, but trust me they go great together.
