Editorial Review
Before there were kids' online investing games and junior day trading, there was Pit. First released in 1904, this classic card game has been teaching kids about commodities trading for almost a century. Trade the casino-quality cards to "corner the market" on commodities like barley, corn, and soy, by collecting all the cards of one suit, taking care to avoid the Bear, and playing high-stakes with the Bull. Capitalism Pit-style is loud and boisterous--trades are offered blind, with potential buyers knowing only the number of cards up for trade. Play inevitably spirals into a frenzy of players yelling "Two, two, two, two!" or "Four, four, four!" to attract trades or screaming "Corner!" when a market is theirs. Pit can be played with three to eight players, but is most fun with a group of five or six. --Lisa Whipple

Game for the whole family
My husband introduced our family to this game. Our teenaged boys love this game! The game is loud, but it is a lot of fun. The cards are not plastic coated so the deck wears out. We are on our third deck.
Fun for adults
I just played this game with some friends from work and their spouses. I wasn't too thrilled when I heard it was a loud game because I'm on the shy side. However, everyone is shouting at the same time so I quickly forgot about that. I'd recommend playing around a table that way you can slide your cards to each other. It was super easy to learn the game, we played one hand and everyone caught on. I can see why the deluxe edition come with a bell. No one would hear when someone would yell "pit!" Without the bell, you can just yell "pit" and lay your cards faced up.
Not as shown
I loved Pit as a kid...(with the orange bell!) so I was delighted to find this for my family. However, this one doesn't come with a bell! And the categories are different than what is shown. I sent it back & got the deluxe version with the bell!
