So nice5
First off...I completely agree with the first reviewers comments. I enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle and this is where brand name really means something. I have tremendous faith in Merrell's committment to producing a rugged shoe that keeps my feet dry, comfortable and protected. I have three total pairs of different style Merrells. Considering the price of each, I think it says a lot about my faith in the brand and the product.

Excellent design5
These are my third pair of Chameleon Cargo's. There are two things that are especially good about Merrell Cargo's as compared with Keens or Teva of similar design. First is the rigidity and stiffness of the shoe base. Your feet don't get as tired when you have a good, solid foundation. The Teva sandal of similar design is way too flexible and my feet become fatigued within an hour of walking or standing. Secondly, the back strap is placed in such a way that the bottom of your ankle doesn't chafe on the strap because of the deep 'V' shape there. Keens do not have this feature and hurt my ankles too much so I was unable to continue wearing them despite their high cost.

The design of the Cargo has a lip at the back of the heel making it compatible with orthotics. The open vent, sandal style makes this shoe perfect for most warm weather activities. It is a little annoying to hike in them because of the pebbles that creep in, but most of them fall out almost as quickly.

Cargos have been my favorite shoe of the past 3 years and although I rarely buy retail-priced shoes, these are an exception. They are harder to find at stores today than they were two years ago and Amazon or internet is the best way. I hope this design/style is not discontinued as no other shoe comes close for comfort and functionality.
