About the Brand
Kashi Company was founded in 1984 on the belief that everyone has the power to make healthful changes. The San Diego-based company’s mission is to provide great tasting, all natural, and innovative foods that enable people to achieve optimal health, wellness, and weight management goals. All Kashi products are natural, minimally processed, and free of highly refined sugars, artificial additives, and preservatives.

The Name "Kashi"
In 1984, when Kashi Company founders Philip and Gayle Tauber created their unique Seven Whole Grains and Sesame blend, they considered several names for the product: Gold'n Grains, Kushi, Graino... Finally, they decided on Kashi--a synthesis of "kashruth" or kosher and "Kushi" the last name of the founders of Macrobiotics (a whole foods way of eating/living).

Later, they discovered that the word "Kashi" has many meanings around the world. In Russian, the name means porridge. In Hebrew, the word kashruth signifies simple or pure food. In Japanese, Kashi implies energy food. And in Chinese, it means happy food. To the company, Kashi means purity and healthy nutrition, and that's what you'll find in their unique blend of Seven Whole Grains and Sesame. Kashi products are foods for a balanced life.

Customer Reviews

Great tasting protein bar with solid nutritional profile5
I like using protein bars for breakfasts on the go and as meal supplements, so I'm always looking to find new ones that are healthy AND taste great. Kashi's GOLEAN bar in the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie flavor is my latest discovery. The tasty bar really is reminiscent of an oatmeal cookie, with a similar chewy texture. It also offers 13 grams of protein--not as high as some sports-marketed bars, but still very good--and a whopping 6 grams of fiber (more than All Bran bars!). An added bonus is the 10% RDA of Calcium, and finally, like all Kashi products, these bars are made with seven whole grains. Definitely a recommended addition to any healthy diet!

Love at first Bite!5
No way around this . . . I absolutely, unequivocally, without any question have fallen in love with this product. It not only tastes great, but puts a smile on my face while I'm eating it. Food should be enjoyable, as well as serve a purpose . . . in this case, these bars not only give you energy, quench hunger, leaving you satisfied, but are also a good source of fiber.

Just like the real thing5
These bars are SO de-lish. They taste like oatmeal raisin cookies and they're very filling. In fact, they are so filling, they can be used as meal replacements.
