The durable, tactical Kydex sheath can be mounted in a variety of ways. View larger.

The E37S-K's Kydex sheath is designed to endure practically any situation. Military belt and jump rated, the Kydex sheath can be mounted upside down, sideways on a belt, or strapped to your ankle. Additionally, the self-draining scabbard has a friction fit and a back-up nylon strap for extra security.

Cryogenic Heat Treatment and TiNi Coating Guarantee a Sharp, Durable Blade
The E37S-K offers a full, 4.85-inch, AUS8 stainless steel blade that has undergone SOG's patented Cryogenic Heat Treatment process, which ensures that this blade will stay sharp over the long haul. This intensive process takes more than 48 hours and involves slowly reducing the blade's temperature to less than -300 degrees Fahrenheit, then slowly heating the blade to room temperature. The stress created by this process strengthens the steel on an atomic level and increases the blade's overall durability and edge retention.

In addition to having undergone the Cryogenic Heat Treatment Process, this knife is coated in proprietary titanium nitride (TiNi), of the toughest coatings that can be applied to steel. TiNi boasts extreme hardness, is exceptionally scratch and peel resistant, and helps increase steel's longevity.

Ergonomic, Lightweight Design Ensures Years of Effortless Use
Even if your blade is sharp, it's hard to make precise cuts if your knife doesn't fit comfortably in your hand. That's why this knife's handle is ergonomically contoured. Crafted from tough, glass-reinforced Zytel, the textured handle is also slip-free and well-balanced. Other ergonomic features include deep finger grooves and a blade spine rasp for easy notching, filing, and thumb placement. Also, at just 5.4 ounces, this knife is lightweight and easy to carry. A tactical Kydex sheath is included for convenient portability.

This knife is backed by a lifetime warranty that protects against defects in manufacturing and materials.

Customer Reviews

Excellent knife for it's price!5
What can I say? This is a great knife for the cost! The pup elite is a beefed up version of the pup, and well worth the slight increase in price. Fixed blade, full tang, AUS 8 steel (decent toughness and edge-holding), decent handle, decently sized blade. The knife handles great, and I am satisfied with it.

Although I haven't used it extensively yet (as in "drop me off in the middle of the jungle" use), I'd say it'd would work well enough in a survival situation. I purchased the straight edge for my belt knife, since there aren't enough serrations to make them really useful. So far it's handled everything I've thrown at it.

The nylon sheath provided is great if you want to carry a leatherman or SAK as well. I've fit a SAK Rucksack or a Leatherman Wave in there. The kydex sheath (sold separately) is a better sheath if you're looking for easy deployment, smaller size, and more rigging options. The knife is slightly easier to unsheathe one-handed and quickly from the kydex sheath, but it really doesn't take much more effort using the nylon one. My pup used to rattle slightly in the kydex sheathe, but I've made adjustments to the sheath and it rattles no more (see sog site for sheath adjustment).

Overall, decent knife. Sure it's not a Fallkniven, Busse, RAT, or BRKT...but for the price, it's not too shabby. But then again, if you're interested in a cheap survival knife, you could always go get a Mora....

great knife5
For starters I've handled a lot of high quality knives. For what this knife it's excellent. I'm tired of seeing reviews that amount to "good knife" "bad knife". I've been testing this over the past week. It's made out of AUS 8 steel. This tends to be the best metal for survival situations while the edge doesn't hold as long it's super easy to sharpen. The nylon sheath rides higher than it should during belt carry when rigged normally. I fixed this by rigging the snap through the last MOLLE strap rides nicely now. Sturdy tang will stand up to prying well. Edge geometry doesn't get much better. The jigged spine cuts through wood very well. The jiggs also cut through copper and other soft metals I've not tried anything harder but in a pinch it would probably work. It is manufactured in Taiwan but it's still up to U.S. quality control standards. There were models manufactured out of japan they were of inferior metal. SOG has slipped a lot through the years but this really is a dependable knife. Oh yea the glass reinforced handle is excellent it is in no way cheap.

Navy Knife5
My son in Iraq wanted this knife while he is in Iraq. I ordered it and sent it to him and he is thrilled with it. It's a pitty we have to supply our troops with their equipment.
