The E37T-K's Kydex sheath is designed to endure practically any situation. Military belt and jump rated, the Kydex sheath can be mounted upside down, sideways on a belt, or strapped to your ankle. Additionally, the self-draining scabbard has a friction fit and a back-up nylon strap for extra security.

Cryogenic Heat Treatment and TiNi Coating Guarantee a Sharp, Durable Blade
The E37T-K offers a full, 4.85-inch, partially-serrated, AUS8 stainless steel blade that has undergone SOG's proprietary Cryogenic Heat Treatment process, which ensures that this blade will stay sharp over the long haul. This intensive process takes more than 48 hours and involves slowly reducing the blade's temperature to less than -300 degrees Fahrenheit, then slowly heating the blade to room temperature. The stress created by this process strengthens the steel on an atomic level and increases the blade's overall durability and edge retention.

In addition to having undergone the Cryogenic Heat Treatment Process, this knife is coated in proprietary titanium nitride (TiNi), of the toughest coatings that can be applied to steel. TiNi boasts extreme hardness, is exceptionally scratch and peel resistant, and helps increase steel's longevity.

Ergonomic, Lightweight Design Ensures Comfortable Use
Even if your blade is sharp, it's hard to make precise cuts if your knife doesn't fit comfortably in your hand. That's why this knife's handle is ergonomically contoured. Crafted from tough, glass-reinforced Zytel, the textured handle is also slip-free and well-balanced. Seal Knife Series: After surviving one of the most extensive test and evaluation programs ever undertaken by the U.S. Government that included knives from most U.S. cutlery manufacturers, the SOG Seal knife triumphed. The Seals are one of the most specialized elite military groups in the world today. Seals must undergo one of the most rigorous training programs devised to produce the consummate warrior. Only a select few endure and earn the right to wear the Seal Trident on their uniform. The knife needed to accompany a Navy Seal must be just as worthy. The US Government's knife evaluation program included incredible tests that evaluated the following: tip breaking strength, blade toughness, sharpness and edge retention, handle to the family of Seal Pup knives.

Replacement SOG SP is better than the first
This is the best survival knife I have ever had. Several years ago I was issued a SEAL Pup as a test article for SWCC boat teams (long since retired). The knife was an excellent survival knife and tested well. Ufortunately, it was subsequently stolen from me during a break-in and I have missed it ever since. I finally broke down and got a replacement and am thrilled with the features that have been added since my original.
The kydex sheath is a must have over the nylon sheath. It holds the razor sharp blade well and I prefer kydex bcause it will not absorb water like the nylon. My original SEAL Pup had a kydex sheath but since then it has been redesigned with considerable upgrades to include the ability to mount it sideways and upside-down and a groove on the sheath so you can cut paracord without unsheathing the knife.
The grip has a good feel, lends good balance to the knife, and has a hole for a lanyard. The grip is not too small like many knives on the market and is textured allowing a firm grip. The elite has a heavier blade and is worth the extra cost even though the original pup has an awesome blade.
I prefer this size knife to the full size SOG SEAL knife when back packing or in the field as a survival blade but you wouldn't go wrong with either knife.

Made in Taiwan
This is my second Black Seal Pup Elite and both appear identicle however the steel from my first one was made in Japan and the second was made in taiwan. The blade is sharp and it might be just as well made but don't be surprised when you recieve your knife if it says taiwan on it.

this kinfe is less buisness and more show. dont get it me wrong it looks awsome but is dull and is not a reliable knife. i wouldnt recommend it.
