Asami Kawakami is a 17 year old highschool girl and is a member of her school's art club, which is run by her friend and adviser, Keigo Sawa. For some time, her best friend Chiharu hasn't been answering her cell phone and has also stopped coming to school. One day Chiharu shows up at the art club and says that the reason she was gone was because of a video game, and that she has also seen many horrific things. That day she goes home and, under the mysterious influence of the game, commits suicide. Asami goes to Chiharu's room after her death and finds the video game, "Portus," and takes it home in the hope of finding out what it is about this game that made her friend commit suicide.

Customer Reviews
Wow--this was unexpectedly GREAT
I had no idea this would be good. I had read the Viz press release on Horror Titles and was looking forward to Uzumaki and Gyo--but picked this up on a business trip back to Boston and from the 1st chapter..this thing knocked me out! I actually had a nightmare after reading midway through. Highly realistic art. Very strong and emotional character development. The premise is not terribly new (very much in tradition of the Ring, Ju-on) but how it's executed for a book that is is absolutely phenomenal. I'm actually more excited now to read Gyo and Uzumaki but make no mistake..if you have money for only one...this one is a great great read. if you're into videogames-- PICK THIS UP...great concept that made me think back to RPG's like Breath of Fire or even the new Legend of Zelda and whethe something like this could happen. Very scary thought..but once u read how the curse gets put on the game..it will make you think. The ending..is okay. Not perfect hence why I only gave it 4 stars..but most horror leave off with a cheesy ending.
