The author is one of the original activist from the 70s to encourage natural childbirth and speak out against unnecessary interventions. This book is becoming outdated, but I have enjoyed reading the historical context she has outlined of a woman's birth experience, and my friend found her chapter on pain management to be helpful and insightful.

I thought this book would be really cheesy. Maybe it is, but I love it! It's so artsy and really makes you feel good about the whole experience. The creative exercises are designed to help you visualize a positive birth experience.

I haven't spent a lot of time with this book. The first half of the book are birth stories from women who have experienced a natural birth attended by a mid-wife. The second half focuses on the midwifery model of care.
