Sizing Tip
Backpacks are sized according to the length of your torso, not your overall height. To measure your torso, start at the 7th vertebrae (the bone that protrudes from the base of the neck) and measure to the top of your hip shelf (found at the small of the back where you'll find the pointy iliac crest of your hips).

Perfect Size for Middle School and up5
My 12 year old use the 4750 for her first 3 day backpacking trip with Girl Scouts. This pack was large enough to grow into but not overwhelming. She is on the tall side for 12 year olds and was just at the lowest setting 13". This pack will work for larger 12 year olds but it also fits me and I'm 5'8". The biggest equipment mistake we saw parents make for entry level girls it getting a pack that was either too large or two small this one appears just right. The 4750 is a bit more narrow then most men's packs so it works well for the young teen age group. It will work for boys as there is nothing on it that indicates it is a womans pack. This can be a problem fitting for young teen boys as men's packs are just too big for them.

Good Stuff4
This is a great pack. The design makes it easy to maintain good balance while moving (not just walking), and is very comfortable to carry even with heavy loads. It allows adjustments to fit your individual body, and even the stays aren't too hard to manipulate. Minimalist hikers might not like all the straps and buckles, but my legs are strong and I will happily carry the extra pound for the additional functionality they provide.

My only two complaints:
It doesn't come with a rain cover. The material keeps out incidental moisture like a champ, but an included cover would have made it complete.
It is a long and narrow pack (relatively). This is great for arm mobility and weaving through trees, but not so great for carrying larger items.

All in all, for ease of use and comfort, this is a great pack.

great bag4
I bought this bag because it fit my smallish frame and smallish budget. I just returned from a two week trip in yosemite and the bag performed very well. front and top access are really handy. hydration pocket and ports are nice too.the build quality is very good for a bag in this price range. I expect years of service from it. my only complaint is that the hydration pocket isn't entirely waterproof. a little condensation from my msr cloudliner eventually made it's way into the main compartment and got my extra pair of socks wet. I bought some seam sealer and am hoping that will fix the problem. really, I think this is more the fault of the cloudliner than the bag. overall, you can't go wrong with this one.
