Customer Reviews
Buy for BARONESS only!!!
I'm a crazed collector of the "Joes". As an 80's child, GI Joe were my favorite toys and cartoon as well as comic books. Since the issuing of the "25th Anniversary" collection, I have been avidly buying just about anything that hits the shelves!
Anyone who collects this as I do will probably read this review and know what I'm talking about. Hasbro has been putting out these figures for some time now, and many of which keep getting duplicated. The only difference is the paint color, or perhaps a trivial accessory. I tend to keep my reviews short and sweet, but this one however, I feel the need to explain why buying this may be a mistake!
Figure #1. Storm Shadow. Do we REALLY need any more variants. "Hall of Heroes" was just put out and it features a SLEEVELESS Storm Shadow. Yay. This version is sleeveless as well, the only difference all together is packaging and this version has gray boots rather than white. One word (PAINT)!
Figure #2. Cobra Commander. Don't get me started on this one, REALLY. The previous 8 or 9 versions were quite enough. CAN WE SAY FILLER?
Figure #3. Viper Soldier. A little bit different in color, but only to the observant eye, and of course the chrome like face shield. BTW if one happens to be into that chrome look, for about .99 cents you can buy a bottle of silver nail polish. Just a hint.
Figure #4. Zartan. The only way to go with this figure is to break down and get the actual original "25th" issue. This version was sold as an individual with his "Swamp Skier" which was a joke in itself. In the 80's Zartan came in a box, like Serpentor, with his vehicle which was almost 3X larger than this poor remake. The masks that are included do not fit, and while the figure itself is definitely a cartoon look alike, that's about all it's worth.
Figure #5. BARONESS. Finally and certainly not least, this is the figure to buy the set for. I happen to be a bit biased here but she is after all my all time favorite character. Her debut was in the original Cobra 5 pack, where she had the color and decent mold, that is once you got past her amazing resemblance to Harry Potter. Her second shelf appearance was in the overly cartoonish look alike featuring her clad in black and BLUE! With this set you get an ENTIRELY different body mold, different color, AND Hasbro finally did her justice. This Baroness resembles the one from days of yore but with todays look.
If you can find this product in stores it's worth the buy for The Baroness only. If you mostly shop online, do not spend more than $30, and that includes SnH!
