Customer Reviews

Great Scratch Protection4
I have used InvisibleShield on numerous electronic devices (Ipod Touch, Nintendo DS, Blackberry Pearl) and have always had great results. I have managed to only ever so slightly mar the shield surface on only one device and it is so slight I have not used the free replacement policy for it. It takes a lot to make any mark on this product. I suggest browsing youtube for demo videos. Suffice it to say, when I received my Kindle, I ordered one right away.

Application process: Be forewarned, this is not a one minute process - on more intricate devices it has taken up to 30 minutes or more. The Kindle version is strictly for the screen, not whole body, and only took approximately 5 to 10 minutes. I am unsure about the problems the first reviewer had with the shield not sticking, this has never been my experience with this product and was no different with the Kindle version. The shield needs to be moistened with a spray solution that is supplied in order to help position it easily, otherwise it sticks quite well very quickly. I removed the battery before starting the application process in case any moisture ended up inside and let it dry for a couple hours before use. Once applied and in position, there is a supplied squeegee for smoothing out the surface and removing the application spray. If there are large air bubbles or wrinkles, the shield can be lifted and repositioned - I would also suggest a little more spray. Do not lift too many times once it starts getting tacky, it can be stretched from too many liftings. If there are only very small air bubbles and they can not be squeegeed out, they will work themselves out over a matter of a few days. I was surprised at how well the small bubbles came out - bubbles bigger than a pen tip, smaller than a BB, disappeared in three days.

Appearance: The shield itself when viewed properly on a turned off device can have almost an orange peel appearance texture wise. I was worried about this the first time I used it and was pleasantly surprised when it was quite transparent under normal use and viewing, the texture was not visible at all. I have always been quite pleased at how unnoticeable the shield is when viewing the screen of any device.

Kindle Appearance: All the other devices I have used this product on have been standard backlit devices, the Kindle is the first eink device I have used it on. Overall, so far I am happy with it, but without the backlighting, as the second reviewer pointed out, there is a small bit of glare. The glare is the only reason I did not give a full 5 stars. I have not found it to hinder my reading ability, but I will need to use it in more diverse lighting conditions to tell if this will be an issue. Honestly, though, I can not see how this will not be an issue with any type of film covering / screen protector with a non backlit device. From past experience with all types of screen protectors, I believe that the Invisible Shield will be the most forgiving of outside light sources. I will post back if my experience is less than satisfactory.

not easy to apply1
The invisibleshield was not easy to apply to the screen. I wasn't happy with the result and ended up throwing it away.

Is expensive, hard to place on the Kindle, and comes off too easily 2
This isn't the first plastic shield I've put on a piece of electronic equipment - I've covered the face of all my iPods, my Treo, my BlackBerry...and while it's never exactly easy, it's usually been no big deal to do successfully. But this "Invisishield" with its combination of liquid sealant, plastic and slide - is a pain to put on properly, and only a few months out already seems to be starting to lift off the screen. VERY disappointing, especially given a price that's twice as expensive as the Fellowes screen protectors or even the Apple-Only Power Support Film Sets!
