Broke Three In Quick Succession
I bought three of these when I saw them in a local store, thinking them a great deal. They LOOK like the equivalent of the Henckels, solid and sturdy, at one-fifth the price. Looks can be deceiving. They are suitable for paper, skin, aluminum foil, etc., but do not try them on anything more substantial, like chicken leg bones. I broke these on items that I routinely cut through with my Henckels and Wusthof shears. The cost of sending them back under warranty was about the purchase cost, so I tossed out all three pairs.
Sorry, Chicago Cutlery, but if you are selling office scissors, label them that way. I expect kitchen shears to be a LOT tougher, so I can't mark these more than one star. Chicago Cutlery makes a pair of scissors called the Insignia series, for only about $2-3 more. I suggest potential buyers look into these, or spring for the more expensive German brands.
Centurion Shears
Hello , I have been using this exact shears for years and the shears are used daily . Never a problem . I use them for many cuts : plastic straps , cardboard , metal bead-chain , plastic bead-chain , tin , leather . Left hand -or- right hand fit . The perfect tool for my job . Fits in my holster nicely . They don't pop apart for easier sharpening but thats a good thing for me because I don't want them to accidentaly come apart and possibly damaging someones furniture . I tried the other shears that do come apart and that got me into trouble when they would come apart and they would damage a surface like the floor -or- an end stand . Plus , there are no .... things sticking out from the grips to catch on things . Great tool for me . Nice price to . Thank You . 11/29/06 . Klay
Good scisssors but not a knife
I am a professional chef and have been looking for a sturdy pair of scissors. I have found them! I use these scissors on everything, and boy are they great. Plactic, carpets, thin metal straps. however I am a bit perplexed reading some of the other reviews saying that they are terrible for cutting through chicken bones. Um, use a knife, its safer and quicker, you also won't develop carpel tunnel or arthritis as quickly if you use a knife. I know i know, some infomercial shows scissors cutting up a chicken and then still perfectly cutting paper, use the right tools for the right job, and you won't be dissatisfied.
