Customer Reviews
Great little device
This is a strange looking little knife sharpener that works very well. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get their knives sharp with just a few strokes.
Best price including shipping for this great sharpener
Checking shipping prices as well as purchase price, I chose Market Warehouse as the best deal. The Sharpener arrived within a week, even with UPS Standard delivery.
The sharpener itself is excellent. None of my knives ever gets completely dull so I didn't have to re-shape an edge. the Furi sharpener took out any hint of burrs with no more than 9 strokes. That was on a chef's knife that had just chopped 5 pounds of carrots, a half dozen onions (very fine), lord knows how many potatoes, a couple heads of cauliflower and a pile of parsley.
I finished the edge with a fine ceramic "steel" as diamond sharpeners like this leave the edge slightly rough. This is absolutely not a complaint. No sharpener can both quickly shape an edge and make it smooth. This step is probably not necessary but does produce a marginally finer edge. I'm a bit fanatic about knife care.
There is one down-side to this sharpener. It does leave slight scratches in the side of the blade if you push too hard on the knife while sharpening. I don't mind but some might.
The bubble packaging included adequate instructions for opening and using the sharpener, something you won't always see with sharpeners.
In reviews for this sharpener from other vendors, a couple of people have asked why this one is so much cheaper than the professional model from Furi. In a word, durability. I've used the pro version in a commercial kitchen and it's much more substantial than this, not that the average home cook will ever abuse the tool the way a underpaid dishwasher will. With reasonable care this should last years.
Idiot Proof
Designed to make sharpening a knife effortless and easy. You can't mess up. Knives come out sharp...period.
