Customer Reviews
Great board, great look, great price.
This cutting board is great. I love the look of the end grain, that's 50% of the reason I bought it. The other 50% is the price. It's an affordable end grain cutting board, which is not exactly easy to come by.
It's a bit lighter then the pictures here display, also a bit more brown then red. But after coating it with board oil it's gorgeous. I kind of want to hang it on my wall.
The rubber feet work great hold the board firmly. I should also note that mine is perfectly flat, no warping. I'm a stickler for cleaning it and it cleans easily. The board itself shows scarring from deep knife cuts but there is NO cut off or chipping. The cut lines seal nicely and only remain as lines, no physical imperfections.
The only reason this didn't get a 5 star rating is that it being end grain there is some knotting. The knotting is filled with some sort of resin that covers it to make it flat with the cutting surface (no depressions). I think the sealer/filler might wear out over time but I'm sure I could find a non-toxic filler if it ever needs it.
If you are looking for an affordable end grain cutting board that will hold up, look no further. If you're looking to spend a lot on a cutting board.... buy two.
5-stars all-around, a perfect cutting board
After I got this home I was astonished at the quality. I have seen cutting boards 5 or 6 times the price of this one that are not half as nice. This is the type of cutting board that will last for years and years because it is so exceptionally put together. It looks almost like a work of art. The entire board (both sides, even the edges) has a lovely shining finish that adds to the look of it as well. It even has 4 large rubber grippers in each corner of it (the true sign of a quality cutting board.) I have used this for cutting everything from meat to vegetables and it's always a breeze. By the way, since it's so large (13X13) the oversized design makes it perfect to use as a trivet. The cutting board is made by Architec (a company that has been making fine items of wood for decades) and is 100% acacia. The cleaning and maintenance are very easy; simply wash it in hot antibacterial soapy water after every cooking step and treat it with a high-quality food-grade mineral oil after every 50 uses. I also wrap the board in aluminum foil anytime I am working with poultry which helps keep it even more sanitary. If you have stumbled upon this page along your cutting board journey then consider your journey completed because you have found the best that very little money can buy.
Architec Cutting Board
It's pretty enough to keep on the counter, but stains easy. Other than that I think it is really handy and perfect size.
