Product Description

New Metro Design’s Beater Blade is an electric mixer attachment which thoroughly mixes batter, eliminating the need to stop and scrape the bowl manually. Engineered for use with top brand electric stand mixers, including most models offered by KitchenAid, Cuisinart, DeLonghi and Viking, the new Beater Blade beats, scrapes, folds and incorporates ingredients thoroughly for fool-proof baking. The new Beater Blade+ ingeniously improves on the functionality of standard V-shaped beaters offered with high-end stand mixers by crafting a high-quality, enhanced blade that includes a flexible rubber “wing” down the entire length of both sides of the blade. The durable, food-grade edging simulates the action of a powerful spatula to gently, yet thoroughly scrape the bowl clean. The wing-system design acts like a wiper blade that continuously scrapes sides and bottom of bowl while it mixes virtually eliminating hand-scraping and batter build-up on the blade. BeaterBlade’s state-of-the-art design continuously and automatically scrapes batters during mixing, which can speed up the process by as much as 50 percent. By eliminating the need to turn off and on the mixer to scrape the bowl, Beater Blade reduces wear of the motor of the mixer, as well. New Metro Design’s Beater Blade excels in a full range of mixing applications, including creaming butter, sugar and eggs to fluffy perfection, and preparing frostings and pastry creams quickly and easily. Model KA-TH fits all KitchenAid tilt head mixers regardless of the KitchenAid model numbers.

Amazon.com Product Description
Cut your mixing time by up to 50 percent with the New Metro Design BeaterBlade. There's no more troubling "scraping the bowl," because the BeaterBlade mixes the batter so thoroughly that it eliminates build-up on the blade and bowl. It's one of the most efficient kitchen tools you'll ever own. Engineered for use with top-brand electric stand mixers, such as those offered by KitchenAid, the BeaterBlade will work with any tilt-head mixer, no matter its size, age, or power level.

The high-quality blade includes flexible rubber wings down both sides, which simulates the action of a power spatula to continuously scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl, much like your car's windshield wiper blades. By continuously scraping the batter while beating, folding, and mixing the ingredients, the BeaterBlade not only speeds up the process by as much as 50 percent, but it also saves wear and tear on your mixer's motor by eliminating the need to turn the mixer off and on to scrape the bowl manually.

Made in the U.S.A., the BeaterBlade is perfect for cakes, cookies, frostings, quick breads, compound butters, meatloaf, pie fillings, mashed potatoes, gum paste and other tasty foods. It washes easily and safely on the top rack of your dishwasher; just place it upside down on the rung, and use a bottle brush to clean the inside of the neck. It measures 10 x 6 x 0.8 inches.

Awesome, awesome, awesome5
Just got this mixer blade and LOVE it. I bake a lot of cheesecake but with my Kitchenaid mixer, I have to stop and scrape the bowl several times. I was very excited to see this blade in a chef's catalog and came right here to Amazon instead to buy it. I only scraped the bowl ONCE while using this blade, although I should have given the blade one scrape early on but didn't. No matter, the batter was done much faster and seemed even creamier (the cheesecake turned out amazing). If you have a Kitchenaid mixer and use it often, you HAVE to get this. Can't believe Kitchenaid didn't think of this themselves.

A Real Gem!5
Anyone who uses their KA stand mixer frequently is quite familiar with having to stop mixing to scrape the bowl down two or more times. This beater blade puts an end to that! I used it for the first time to make a sweet potato pound cake that used 3 cups of flour. Normally, I would scrape the bowl down after each addition of flour, this time, I scraped it down once with the last addition of flour to get the flour that had accumulated at the top of bowl beyond the reach of the beater. The sides of the bowl were fine. The blade also works really well with cookie dough. I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies and was impressed with how well the blade handled the dough and kept the sides of the bowl scraped.

The beater has a silicon blade that is designed to act just like a wiper blade that continuously scrapes the sides and bottom of the bowl so the batter doesn't stand a chance of accumulating. It could just be my imagination but it seemed as if the batter was fluffier. I know the creamed butter and sugar looked a lot fluffier than normal, and I didn't have to scrape the bowl down at all during this stage. At any rate, fluffier batter or not this is a great tool to add to your KA accessories.

The product description, BeaterBlade for KitchenAid Tilt-Head & Bowl-Lift Mixers, combines two different beater blade models. One for the KA Tilt Head mixer (KA-TH) and one for the Bowl Lift mixer (KA-6L/5Plus). I have a 4.5 qt. Tilt Head Mixer, and the KA-TH Beater Blade fits perfectly. I went to beaterbladedotcom to make sure I was buying the right one (read the FAQ). Model KA-TH will work on most 4.5 qt. and 5 qt. Tilt-Head mixers. There is a different beater blade for the Bowl Lift Mixers, KA-5L for 5 qt. and KA-6L for 6 qt. I didn't see a model 5Plus as mentioned in the description on this page. The Beater Blade site has the KA mixer model numbers listed for each beater blade so if you are not certain of what to get, check there to make sure you purchase the correct blade, especially if you have a really old KA Tilt-Head mixer.

The product page bearing the description BeaterBlade for KitchenAid Tilt-Head & Bowl-Lift Mixers is sort of confusing because it doesn't include an option to select the KA-5L model for the 5 qt. Bowl Lift mixer. It only allows for the KA-TH, and the KA-6L/5Plus. The model number KA-6L/5Plus refers to the blade for the 6 qt. Bowl Lift mixer which will not fit the 5 qt. mixer. To get the 5 qt. beater blade, you have to either search for the model number KA-5L or select the link for it under the Frequently Bought Together section on the product page. The product description will then show the specific model number, and it has a picture of the item where the model number can be seen on the beater blade. The Beater Blade is also available for Cuisinart, Delonghi, and Viking mixers, model CDV-7.

The beater blades are made in the USA, have a one-year warranty against defects, and are dishwasher safe (top rack).

It does what is says it will do but...3
I have a Kitchen Aid 4 1/2 quart mixer which I have used regularly for at least 15 years. When I read a review for the Beater Blade in a Washington DC newspaper, I knew I wanted to get one as it seemed to solve the problems of mixing with the standard Kitchen Aid blade.

It arrived today. When I opened up the package, I was disappointed when I saw that the blade structure is plastic (with the rubber blades). I saw it had a one year warranty, which I will keep just in case it doesn't hold up. I used it today to make a batch of cookies. Yes, it did mix everything well and eliminated the need to use a spatula to mix the bit on the sides and bottom. However, when I added flour like I would with the standard beater I ended up with flour everywhere. The mixer was a lot warmer that it would normally be after mixing a batch of cookies as well.

I have mixed feelings about this product.
