Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review
The pronounced serration of this knife's blade is ideal for cutting through tough crusts without undue pressure. The knife's length and triangular tip make it perfect for slicing both long and round loaves. Cooks frustrated by bread knives that tear crusts or send crumbs flying will welcome this efficient worker.

Part of the Classic series, the knife represents two centuries of unexcelled Wüsthof craftsmanship. Like other cutlery in the series, it's hand-forged from a single piece of stainless steel for maximum strength; the hand-polished blade is exactingly calibrated to be hard enough to resist dulling yet soft enough to take a keen edge when it's honed or sharpened. Dishwasher-safe and with a traditionally shaped, ergonomically designed handle that is triple-riveted for durability, the knife brings a guaranteed lifetime of low-maintenance cutting to its owners. --Arthur Boehm

Customer Reviews

Go big5
It's a Wusthof Classic, so it's got all the weight, balance, comfort and precision sharpness of the great German line. This is a great choice for all amateur & aspiring chefs, and many professionals.

The purpose of this review is to urge any shopper investing in a Wusthof bread knife to go for the full 10" length -- it makes a positive difference in leverage as you slice, and easily clears the diameter of virtually any boule, ciabatta, and other artisan loaves. The same principle applies to roasts and other meats, if you use your serrated knives for carving.

The length doesn't diminish anyone's ability to slice tomatoes, panini or any other foods, either. If you're going to spend $100+ on a quality bread knife, make your money go further with the 10" model.

Wusthof Classic Bread Knife5
This is a great knife. It not only cuts bread like it's butter, but is also great for slicing tomatoes. No matter how thin you want to slice the tomato, this knife can do it.

Great for slicing baguettes length-wise5
I bought this knife to reward myself for filing my own taxes last year. It is a great knife, heavy enough to control and easy to slice a baguette length-wise for a sandwich.
